Marco Antônio Garcia Alves (born 26 December 1940), better known as just Marco Antônio, is a Brazilian footballer. He played in seven matches for the Brazil national football team in 1963. He was also part of Brazil's squad for the 1963 South American Championship The 1963 South American Championship was held in Bolivia between 10 and 31 March 1963. Marco Antônio Rodrigues Alves (20 October 1954 – 30 November 2021), simply known as Marco Antônio, was a Brazilian professional Association football, footballer who played as a Fullback (association football), right back. Career Right back, he started in the youth sectors of Corinthians, a team he played for until 1975, being a reserve player most of the time. He also had spells at Comercial, Inter de Limeira and Paysandu, where he was part of the state champion squad in 1982. He retired after winning. Personal life Marco Antônio is brother of also footballers Zé Maria (footballer, born 1949), Zé Maria and Tuta (footballer, born 1950), Tuta, and uncle of Fernando Lázaro. Playing career He was a defender for Sport Club do Recife winning the Campeonato Brasileiro 1987, and author of the goal in the victory over Guarani by 1 x 0 in Ilha do Retiro, making him one of the biggest idols of the club's history. Marco Antônio da Silva Carvalho (born 24 September 2000), known as Marco Antônio, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as either a centre-back or a defensive midfielder for Vitória. Career Born in Santo Antônio de Jesus, Bahia, Marco Antônio joined Vitória's youth setup at the age of 12. He made his first team debut on 2 May 2021, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 2–1 Campeonato Baiano home loss to Jacuipense. On 19 January 2022, Marco Antônio renewed his contract with the ''Leão'' until December 2023, being definitely promoted to the main squad.
