Marchand d'Or (foaled February 21, 2003 in Calvados, France) is a Thoroughbred racehorse. In 2008, he won his third straight Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville Racecourse, thus becoming the first to ever win three consecutive runnings of any French Group 1 race. Theatrical (horse)
Theatrical (13 March 1982 – 31 August 2012) was an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1987 Breeders' Cup Turf and was a successful sire. Background Theatrical was a tall bay horse with a narrow white blaze, and white socks on his hind legs bred by Bertram & Diana Firestone at their Gilltown Stud in Kilcullen, County Kildare, Ireland. He was sired by Nureyev the disqualified "winner" of the 1980 2000 Guineas. His dam was the Irish mare Tree Of Knowledge. Racing career Theatrical won his only race as a two-year-old, a maiden race over eight and a half furlongs at Gowran Park in October. Group One, Group 1, Grade I or G1 is the term used for the highest level of Thoroughbred and Standardbred stakes races in many countries. In Europe, the level of races for Thoroughbred racing is determined using the Pattern races, Pattern race system introduced in 1971 and monitored by the European Pattern Committee. To attain or maintain a Group One status, the average rating for the first four finishers in the race must be 115 or higher over a three-year period. Hippodrome Deauville-La Touques is a race track for thoroughbred horse racing located in Deauville in the Calvados département, in the Normandy ''région'' of France. Originally called Hippodrome de la Touques, it was named for the Touques River that separates the city of Deauville from Trouville-sur-Mer. Prix De Meautry
The Prix de Meautry is a Group 3 flat horse race in France open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run at Deauville over a distance of 1,200 metres (about 6 furlongs), and it is scheduled to take place each year in August. History The event is named after Haras de Meautry, a successful stud farm located near Deauville. It was established in 1877, and was initially contested over 900 metres. It was extended to 1,000 metres in 1887. The race was abandoned throughout World War I, with no running from 1914 to 1918. A new distance of 1,200 metres was introduced in 1922. Deauville Racecourse was closed during World War II, and the Prix de Meautry was cancelled in 1940. For the remainder of this period it was switched between Maisons-Laffitte (1941–43, 1945) and Longchamp (1944). The Longchamp edition was run over a length of 1,300 metres.
