Manurewa is a local government area in Auckland, in New Zealand's Auckland Region. It is governed by the Manurewa Local Board and Auckland Council. It is within the council's Manurewa-Papakura Ward. Geography The area includes a mixture of hills and Manukau Harbour coastline. Hillpark, Auckland
Hillpark is a suburb in Auckland, New Zealand. It is bordered by suburbs of The Gardens on the east and Manurewa on the south. It was formerly part of Manukau City until the 2010 amalgamation of all of Auckland's councils, and is now under the governance of Auckland Council. In 2016 Auckland Council recognised Hillpark as a Special Character Area. The key characteristics of the area include International Style modernist houses, mid-20th century brick and tile bungalows, Arts and Crafts influenced houses, and English Cottage style houses. Southmall Manurewa
Southmall Manurewa is a shopping centre located in Manurewa, a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand, located south of the Auckland CBD. History and development The centre was opened in November 1967, and is believed to be one of the first shopping centers constructed in New Zealand. During 1987, the centre was extensively remodeled and was redesigned from an open air to an enclosed centre. Great South Road, New Zealand
The Great South Road was the northern section of the earliest highway between Auckland and Wellington, in the North Island of New Zealand. History Construction of the Great South Road began in 1861 during the New Zealand Wars under the orders of Governor Grey to improve supply lines through swampy and thickly forested country. Wiri
Wiri is a mostly industrial-commercial focused suburb in Auckland, New Zealand. It was formerly part of Manukau City until the merger of all of Auckland's councils into the ' super city' in 2010. The area was named after the chief Takaanini Wirihana. The Wiri inland port connects road freight to the Ports of Auckland on the Waitemata Harbour further north. The inland port allows the Ports of Auckland to reduce the number of trucks that have to travel through the Auckland Central area by up to 100,000 trips per year. Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility (ARWCF) is located in Wiri. Homai
Homai is a suburb of Auckland in New Zealand surrounded by Manukau Central, Wiri, Hillpark, Clendon Park and Manurewa. It was formerly under the local governance of the Manukau City Council. It has since been integrated with the rest of Auckland under Auckland Council in 2010. History In the early 1920s, local residents of Manurewa, including John Dreadon, lobbied the Manurewa Town Board for the creation of a second train station in the area, which opened in 1924. The train station was named Homai, suggested by Auckland resident Maurice Harding, referring to the gift of land and financing that Dreadon and his neighbours gave to create the station. Clendon Park
Clendon Park is a suburb of Auckland in northern New Zealand. It is located to the west of Manurewa and north of Weymouth. The suburb is in the Manurewa-Papakura ward, one of the 21 local boards of Auckland Council. History Clendon Park is named after Captain James Reddy Clendon who in 1840 traded land he owned in the Bay of Islands with the newly formed New Zealand Government for 10,000 acres (40 km2) of land, then south of Auckland CBD. Weymouth, New Zealand
Weymouth, also known as Weymouth by the sea, is a southern suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. It is located adjacent to Clendon Park and Manurewa, some southeast of Auckland city centre, and is sited on a peninsula between the southeastern shore of the Manukau Harbour and that Harbour's Pahurehure Inlet. Wattle Downs
Wattle Downs is a suburb of South Auckland, New Zealand. The suburb is located in the Wattle farm peninsula of the Manukau Harbour and is in the Manurewa-Papakura ward, one of the thirteen administrative divisions of Auckland Council. Alfriston
Alfriston is a village and civil parish in the East Sussex district of Wealden, England. The village lies in the valley of the River Cuckmere, about four miles (6 km) north-east of Seaford and south of the main A27 trunk road and part of the large area of Polegate. Randwick Park
Randwick Park is an eastern residential suburb of the city of Auckland, New Zealand. The suburb had high unemployment and high crime rates in the early 2000s, but after a liquor store owner was killed in 2008, a residents' association was formed to improve local sports and community facilities, with support from the Manurewa Local Board and Auckland Council's Southern Initiative program.
