Manson, NC
Manson is an unincorporated community in Warren County, North Carolina, United States. The community is located on U.S. Route 1, west-southwest of Norlina. Manson has a post office with ZIP code 27553. Manson was originally known as Cheathamville. The name changed to Branchville after a branch of the Roanoke Valley Railway joined the Raleigh and Gaston Railroad in the community in 1858. The following year the community was renamed Mason in honor of O. F. Mason, a local doctor. The locale was incorporated in 1874, but it later grew inactive in municipal activities. Green Duke House
Green Duke House is a historic plantation house located at Soul City, near Manson, Warren County, North Carolina. It was built about 1800 as a Georgian style dwelling, and remodeled in the post-Victorian style about 1900. It is a two-story, five-bay, frame dwelling with a hipped roof. The front and rear facades feature one-story porches with elaborate Ionic order columns. At the time of its listing, the house was being used as a day care center. Duke was the surname of an early landowner, and Green the maiden name of his wife. Raleigh And Gaston Railroad
The Raleigh and Gaston Railroad was a Raleigh, North Carolina, based railroad opened in April 1840 between Raleigh and the town of Gaston, North Carolina, on the Roanoke River. It was North Carolina's second railroad (the Wilmington and Weldon Railroad opened one month earlier). The length was and built with gauge.
