Manitoba Bisons Women's Ice Hockey
The Manitoba Bisons are an ice hockey team that represents the University of Manitoba. They compete in the Canada West Universities Athletic Association in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport athletic program. Home games are contested at the Wayne Fleming Arena (located at 109 Sidney Smith St) in Winnipeg, Manitoba. History On March 22, 2009, the Bisons challenged the Moncton Aigles Bleues women's ice hockey program in the bronze medal game of the 2009 CIS national women's ice hockey championship. Marieve Provost of Moncton scored the game-winner in a shootout with a 3-2 victory over Manitoba, as Moncton captured the Atlantic conference's first-ever medal at the CIS women's hockey championship. In 2018, the program would win its first-ever national championship. Contested on March 18, the Bisons blanked the Western Mustangs women's ice hockey program in a 2-0 shutout victory. Manitoba Bisons
The Manitoba Bisons are the athletic teams that represent the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The football team plays their games at Investors Group Field. The soccer team play their home games at the University of Manitoba Soccer Fields while the track and field teams use the University Stadium as their home track. The University has 18 different teams in 10 sports: basketball, curling, cross country running, Canadian football, golf, ice hockey, soccer, swimming, track & field, and volleyball. 2019 U Sports Women's Ice Hockey Championship
The 2019 U Sports Women's Ice Hockey Championship was held March 14–17, 2020, in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Guelph defeated McGill by a 1-0 mark in the championship game, as Valerie Lamenta earned the shutout. Guelph captain Kaitlin Lowy scored the game-winning goal, as the Gryphons won their first-ever national championship. Ice hockey at the 2017 Winter Universiade was held from January 28 through February 8 at Halyk Arena (men's matches) and Baluan Sholak Sports Palace (women's matches) in Almaty. The selection of participating teams - 12 in the men's tournament and seven in the women's tournament, including the hosting Kazakhstan sides in both cases - was announced on July 25, 2016 while the draw to place the teams into their assigned pools took place on September 18, 2016. Ice Hockey At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Women's Tournament
The women's tournament in ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held in Gangneung, South Korea between 10 and 22 February 2018. Eight countries qualified for the tournament; five of them did so automatically by virtue of their ranking by the International Ice Hockey Federation, one, South Korea, automatically qualified as hosts, while the two others took part in a qualification tournament. Under a special agreement with the IOC and the IIHF, twelve North Korean players joined the host team to form a united team. They were allowed to have an expanded roster of 35 where 22 players dress for each game. Three North Korean players were selected for each game by coach Sarah Murray. Venla Hovi
Venla Hovi (; born 28 October 1987) is a Finnish former ice hockey forward and the current head coach of the Metropolitan Riveters in the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). She played with the Finnish national team and won bronze medals at the 2010 and 2018 Winter Olympic Games and at the 2008, 2009, and 2017 IIHF Women's World Championships, and a silver medal at the 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship. Hovi announced her retirement from top athletic competition the day following the achievement of silver at the 2019 Worlds. Following her retirement, Hovi served as an on-ice instructor with True North, the Winnipeg Jets' hockey development program. Western Mustangs Women's Ice Hockey
The Western Mustangs women's ice hockey team represents the University of Western Ontario Western Mustangs and competes in the Ontario University Athletics conference, which participates nationally in the U Sports athletic program. The Mustangs play at Thompson Arena in London, Ontario. The Moncton Aigles Bleues women's ice hockey team represents the University of Moncton in U Sports women's ice hockey.
