Sorority Tears
''Ganging Up on the Sun'' is the fifth studio album by the rock band Guster. It was released on June 20, 2006. The first single, "One Man Wrecking Machine", was released in late 2005 and its follow-up, "Satellite", in March 2006. It is Guster's second studio album with Joe Pisapia, his first as a full member. The title comes from a line in the song "Manifest Destiny": "The moon and stars are ganging up on the sun". The album is Guster's most successful release to date, entering the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart at number 25, topping '' Keep It Togethers entry at number 35 in 2003. It won Album of the Year (Major) at the Boston Music Awards in 2006. On May 5, 2021 the band announced a digital re-release of the album in an expanded form, with 24 tracks. Guster
Guster is an American alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Founding members Adam Gardner, Ryan Miller, and Brian Rosenworcel began practice sessions while attending Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, and formed the band in 1991. The members met during the freshman Wilderness Orientation program in August of that year, playing publicly together as a trio two months later at the Midnight Cafe coffee house set in the common area of the Lewis Hall dormitory. While attending Tufts, the band lived at 139 College Avenue in Somerville, Massachusetts. The band stayed "underground" for its first two full-length albums, ''Parachute'' (1994) and '' Goldfly'' (1997), but broke into the musical mainstream in 1999 with its third studio album ''Lost and Gone Forever'', featuring the single "Fa Fa", which made it onto the Adult Top 40. ''Keep It Together'' is the fourth studio album by the band Guster, released in June 2003. The album was recorded from 2001 to 2003 in Bearsville, New York, New York City, Burbank, California, and Shokan, New York. This is the first album by Guster with Brian Rosenworcel on kit drums instead of hand percussion. ''Keep It Together'' went through several working titles, including ''Bitch Magic'', ''Olympia Dukakis'' and ''Come Downstairs & Say Hello''. According to the album's liner notes, Joe Pisapia contributed guest vocals on "Jesus on the Radio" and Ben Kweller did the same on "I Hope Tomorrow Is Like Today". Pisapia officially joined the band in 2003. The track "Red Oyster Cult" refers to the name of the American rock band Blue Öyster Cult. A UK re-release included two bonus tracks, "Say That To My Face" and "Starless Heaven". The record sold 267,000 copies by late 2005, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Manifest Destiny/Sorority Tears
"Manifest Destiny/Sorority Tears" is a combination of two clips from different songs by American alternative rock band Guster. After "Manifest Destiny" ends, it very softly slides right into "Sorority Tears", which begins with a soft banjo opening featuring a harmonica. This gives it a "bluesy" feel, but then the song escalates slightly into a louder section featuring horns and a louder drum piece before softly fading back to the same type of music as the opening. Originally, "Sorority Tears" was supposed to be included as a separate song, either as a b-side or an album song, but the record company didn't like the overall difference in style of the piece, so the band simply decided to combine the two songs into one.
