Mandi Bahauddin
Mandi Bahauddin (Urdu and pa, ) is a city in northern Punjab, Pakistan. It is also the capital of Mandi Bahauddin District. It is the 41st largest city of Pakistan by population according to the 2017 census. It has exellent agricultural land. The city is about 220 metres above sea level and is located in central Punjab, between the rivers Jhelum (north 12 km) and Chenab (south 39 km). Mandi ( ar, مندي) is a traditional dish that originated from Hadhramaut, Yemen, consisting mainly of meat and rice with a special blend of spices, cooked in a pit underground. It is popular and commonly consumed in most areas of the Arabian Peninsula, and even considered a staple dish in many regions. It is also found in Egypt, India, the Levant and Turkey. In Yemen Mandi is popular among the Hadhrami people. Mandi was usually made from rice, meat (lamb, camel, goat or chicken), and a mixture of spices called hawaij. The main technique that differentiates mandi from other meat dishes is that the meat is cooked in the taboon. Mandi Jocelyn Schwartz (February 3, 1988April 3, 2011) was a Canadian ice hockey player with the Yale Bulldogs. She was a three time Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Hockey All-Academic, and played 73 consecutive games with the team before being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in December 2008. Prior to joining Yale University, Schwartz had played minor hockey for Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Saskatchewan. Her younger brother, Jaden currently plays for the Seattle Kraken in the National Hockey League. After her diagnosis, bone marrow drives were at Yale and in Canada. These drives did not result in a match for Schwartz, they did result in six matches for other patients on the registry who were waiting for a transplant.
