Manaf (deity)
Manaf ( ar, مناف) was a pre-Islamic Arabian deity and given name that means "elevated". Personal names incorporating the name Manaf such as "Abd Manaf" show that the deity was widespread among the tribes of Quraysh, Hudhayl, and Tamim.T. Fahd. Abd Manaf Ibn Qusai
Abd Manaf al-Mughirah ibn Qusai ( ar, عبد مناف ٱلمغيرة ٱبن قصي, ''ʿAbd Manāf al-Mughīrah ibn Quṣayy'') was a Qurayshi and great-great-grandfather of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. His father was Quṣai ibn Kilāb. Biography Abd Manaf was already honoured in his father's lifetime however Qusai preferred his first-born 'Abd ad-Dar and invested him with all his rights, powers, and transferred the ownership of the House of Assembly shortly before his death. Hashim Ibn Abd Manaf
Hāshim ibn ʿAbd Manāf ( ar, هاشم بن عبد مناف; ), born ʿAmr al-ʿUlā (), was the great-grandfather of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the progenitor of the ruling Banu Hashim clan of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca. At some point in his life before his father's death, ‘Amr chose for himself the name ''Hāshim'', as it was the name God used for Abraham (‘Amr was a Hanif, follower of the "religion of Abraham"). Muttalib Ibn Abd Manaf
Al-Muttalib ibn Abd al-Manaf ( ar, ٱلْـمُطَّلِب ٱبْن عَبْد مَنَاف, ''al-Muṭṭalib ibn Abd al-Manāf'') was the grandfather of Ubaydah ibn al-Harith, a sahabi of Muhammad. He was also the ancestor of Imam Shafi. History His father was Abd Manaf ibn Qusai. Al-Muttalib was the younger brother of Hashim ibn Abd Manaf (the great-grandfather of Muhammad). He succeeded his brother Hashim and took care of his nephew Shaiba ibn Hashim; when he returned to Mecca with his nephew people thought he was his new slave, so Shaiba became known as "Abd al-Muttalib" (servant of al-Muttalib) because slavery was so common and rampant at that time. When al-Muttalib died, his sons and nephew Abd al-Muttalib succeeded him. Manaf Eid Abushgeer ( ar, مناف عيد أبوشقير, born 5 February 1980) is a former professional footballer from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A full Saudi Arabian international, he plays for Al Ittihad in the left midfield position. Manaf Abd Al-Rahim Al-Rawi
Manaf Abd al-Rahim al-Rawi (Arabic: مناف عبد الرحيم الراوي) (died April 1, 2013) was a senior Iraqi leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI), acting as its "governor" for Baghdad province. Al-Rawi was arrested on March 11, 2010 by Iraqi security forces. Iraqi government sources claimed al-Rawi was responsible for planning multiple-vehicle bombings in Baghdad. Manaf Suleymanov
Manaf Faraj oglu Suleymanov ( az, Manaf Fərəc oğlu Süleymanov; 3 March 1912, Lahich – 12 September 2001, Baku) was an Azerbaijani writer, translator and historian. Life Manaf Suleymanov was born in 1912, in the village of Lahich in Azerbaijan. He graduated from the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute with honours and worked in the Azerbaijan Institute of Industry as an assistant professor. In 1942 he completed his PhD in Geology (kandudat geologo-mineralogicheskikh nauk). Mr. Suleymanov then lectured at several Azerbaijani universities. As well as for his academic contributions Manaf Suleymanov is well known in Azerbaijan for his literary work. He wrote several acclaimed novels. Mr. Suleymanov also translated from English to Azerbaijani literary works by Jack London, Somerset Maugham, O. Henry, John Steinbeck, Peter Abrahams and many others. Manaf Tlass
Manaf Tlass or Manaf Tlas ( ar, مَنَاف طَلَاس, Manāf Ṭalās; born 1964) is a former Brigadier General of the Syrian Republican Guard and member of Bashar al-Assad's inner circle who defected in 2012. He was the first Syrian Republican Guard commander to defect from the Syrian military and declare support for the opposition. Early life and education Tlass was born in Rastan in 1964. He is the son of the former Syrian Defense Minister Mustafa Tlass and Lamia Al Jabiri, a member of an aristocratic Aleppo family. His father is of Circassian and Turkish origin. Businessman Firas Tlass is his elder brother. The Tlass family was the most famous Sunni family in Syria, known for supporting the government.
