is a song by Japanese singer-songwriter Yumi Matsutoya and is contained in her studio album "Sakuban Oaishimasho". The song was released as her 17th single on June 21, 1981 from Toshiba EMI and sold over 695,000 copies. It was re-released as a CD single on June 28, 1989. Overview Matsutoya was given the offer to write the theme song for the movie "Nerawareta Gakuen" and she wrote "Mamotte Agetai". Generally the writer of both the lyrics and the music in her songs, she is renowned for her idiosyncratic voice and live performances, and is one of the most prominent figures in the history of Japanese popular music.
