''Mama Africa'' is a studio album by the Jamaican musician Peter Tosh, released in 1983. It peaked at number 59 on the ''Billboard'' 200, becoming Tosh's highest-charting album in the U.S. Tosh supported the album with a North American tour. A video was shot for " Johnny B. Goode". Critical reception ''The New York Times'' wrote: "Like most of Mr. Tosh's albums, ''Mama Africa'' is uneven—Mr. Tosh's raw baritone can be inexpressive—but in 'Glasshouse' and a few other songs Mr. Tosh shows both vehemence and a preacher's timing." ''Mama Africa'' (also known as ''Mama Africa: The Diary of an African Woman'') is the second studio album by Nigerian singer Yemi Alade. It was released on March 25, 2016, by Effyzzie Music Group. The album is the follow-up to her debut studio album ''King of Queens'' (2014). It features guest appearances from P-Square, Sarkodie, Sauti Sol, Flavour N'abania, Rotimi Keys, DJ Arafat and Selebobo. The album was produced by GospelOnDeBeatz, DJ Coublon, Selebobo, Philkeyz, BeatsByEmzo, Masterkraft, Rotimi Keys and Mr. Chidoo. It was supported by six singles: "Na Gode", "Do As I Do", "Ferrari", "Kom Kom", "Africa" and "Tumbum". The album's deluxe edition features collaborations with South African musicians Bucie and AKA. "Mama Africa" is a song by Akon, released in 2007 as the fourth single from his second studio album, ''Konvicted'' (2006). The single was released to radio stations on May 15, 2007, before being officially released in the United Kingdom on July 30, 2007. The official remix of the track features 50 Cent. The lyrics are written as a homage to Akon's ancestral homeland, Africa. The song peaked at No. 47 on the UK Singles Chart, and No. 5 on the UK R&B Singles Chart. The track was B-listed upon its first airplay on BBC Radio 1. The single's artwork was designed by Chris Jarvis. A video for the song was filmed in October 2006, however, due to licensing issues, was not released. The video was later leaked to the internet in February 2009. Yemi Eberechi Alade (born 13 March 1989), is a Nigerian Afropop singer, songwriter, actress and activist. She won the ''Peak Talent Show'' in 2009 after which she signed to Effyzzie Music Group, and had a hit with her single "Johnny" in 2014. Chico César (born January 26, 1964 in Catolé do Rocha, Paraíba, Brazil) is a Brazilian singer, poet, composer and songwriter. Early years and career Born in Catolé do Rocha, Paraíba, Brazil, he was transferred to João Pessoa, where he studied journalism at Universidade Federal da Paraíba, where he wrote poetry. Panetoz is a Swedish multi-ethnic band with members originating from Gambia, Ethiopia, Angola, Congo and Finland-Sweden. Panetoz are now signed to Warner Music that released their biggest hit, " Dansa pausa". Their repertoire is made up of a mix of Swedish language, English and various African languages with influences from traditional African music and Swedish hip hop and R&B. Zenzile Miriam Makeba (4 March 1932 – 9 November 2008), nicknamed Mama Africa, was a South African singer, songwriter, actress, and civil rights activist. Associated with musical genres including African popular music, Afropop, jazz, and world music, she was an advocate against apartheid and white-minority government in South Africa.
