Malaysian Chess Championship
The Malaysian Chess Championship is organized by the Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF; ms, Persekutuan Catur Malaysia). Known as the National Closed Chess Championship prior to 2016, the first edition was held in 1974. A separate Malaysian Women's Chess Championship has also been held annually since 1990. FIDE Master Christi Hon has won the national title a record five times, while Woman International Master Siti Zulaikha Foudzi has won the women's title a record eight times. Curiously, it has occurred twice that a pair of siblings have won the national and the women's titles in the same year: Kamal Ariffin Wahiddudin and Nurul Huda Wahiduddin in 1991, and Zarul Shazwan Zullkafli and Nur Shazwani Zullkafli in 2007. The MCF promotes and coordinates all major chess events in the 13 Malaysian states and is an active sports body in Malaysia. ELIZA is an early natural language processing computer program created from 1964 to 1966 at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory by Joseph Weizenbaum. Created to demonstrate the superficiality of communication between humans and machines, Eliza simulated conversation by using a " pattern matching" and substitution methodology that gave users an illusion of understanding on the part of the program, but had no built in framework for contextualizing events. Directives on how to interact were provided by "scripts", written originally in MAD-Slip, which allowed ELIZA to process user inputs and engage in discourse following the rules and directions of the script. The most famous script, DOCTOR, simulated a Rogerian psychotherapist (in particular, Carl Rogers, who was well known for simply parroting back at patients what they had just said), and used rules, dictated in the script, to respond with non-directional questions to user inputs. Singapore Chess Federation
The Singapore Chess Federation ( Abbreviation: SCF) is the principal authority over all chess events in Singapore, and was founded in 1949 by Lim Kok Ann. Its promotion of the game has caused participation in its youth and interschool events, among others, to jump from 517 in 1999 to over 1200 in 2004. As a result, Singapore has one of the highest number of chess players in schools per capita in Asia. The Federation is affiliated to the world governing body, International Chess Federation (FIDE), and is part of the ASEAN Chess Confederation and the Asian Chess Federation. The current President is Dr Hsu Li Yang (who is also an International Master). The current Vice President is Dr Wong Meng Kong (who is a Grandmaster). Tan Lian Ann (born 8 September 1947) is a Singaporean chess master. Career He played at Perth 1962/63 (AUS-ch, John Purdy won); at Vrnjačka Banja 1963 (7th World Junior Chess Championship (U-20), Florin Gheorghiu won), and at Barcelona 1965 (9th WJCh, q-5, Robert Hübner won). He was six times champion at the Singaporean Chess Championship, and at the age of 16, He won Malaysian chess championship.
