Malavan Sport and Cultural Club is an Iranian multisport club based in Bandar Anzali, Iran. Bandar Anzali with 150,000 citizens has 64 sport clubs with 11,000 male and female athletes. It was established by Marshal Karim Rastegari in 1969 under the supervision of the Iranian Navy and to begin with only had a football team which still exists today as Malavan Football Club. The team has boasted fantastic players such as the late Sirous Ghayeghran, and today boasts Maziar Zare, hailed by many as ''The New Ghayegran''. Malavan Bandar Anzali Football Club ( fa, باشگاه فوتبال ملوان بندر انزلى, ''Bashgah-e Futbal-e Milâvan Bendâr Anzeli'') is an Iranian football club based in Bandar-e Anzali, Iran. It currently won Iran's second football league, the Azadegan League and came back to Persian Gulf Pro League after they were relegated in 2015–16 season. The team is known to have some of the most passionate fans in Iranian football, and is one of the successful teams that is not based in Tehran. Jasem Vishkaei ( fa, جاسم ويشكائى, also Romanized as "Jāsem Vishkaei"; born December 27, 1982, in Bandare Anzali, Gilan Province) is an Iranian karateka. Vishkaei competed in the 2006 Asian Games in the 75 kg division and won the gold medal. He also won the gold medal in 2010 Asian Games. Mazyar ( Middle Persian: ''Māh-Izād''; Mazandarani/ fa, مازیار, Māzyār) was an Iranian prince from the Qarinvand dynasty, who was the ruler (''ispahbadh'') of the mountainous region of Tabaristan from 825/6 to 839. For his resistance to the Abbasid Caliphate, Mazyar is considered one of the national heroes of Iran by twentieth-century Iranian nationalist historiography. The Iranian national basketball team is controlled by the IR Iran Basketball Federation. Overall, the team won three out of the last five FIBA Asia Championship tournaments. Maziar Zare Eshghdoost ( fa, مازیار زارع عشقدوست, born 22 December 1984 in Bandar Anzali, Iran) is an Iranian former football player and current coach. He was a right-footed defensive midfielder. He is dubbed as ''The New Ghayeghran'' after the late Sirous Ghayeghran, Malavan's legend and also wore the coveted number 9 shirt. Club career He Played 4 seasons for Malavan and moved to Persepolis in the summer of 2008 and played in AFC Champions League for the team and was the regular player for the team which he took the penalties. Sirous Ghayeghran ( fa, سيروس قايقران) (22 January 1962 – 7 April 1998) was an Iranian footballer and former captain of Iran national football team. Playing career Club career He played most of his club career for Malavan FC. In 1990, he signed for Ai-Ittihad of Qatar. He did not forget his roots and soon returned to Malavan, helping the club win the Hazfi Cup and participate in the Asian Club Championship. Persian Gulf Pro League
The Persian Gulf Pro League ( fa, لیگ برتر خلیج فارس, ''Lig-e Bartar-e Xalij-e Fârs''), formerly known as the Iran Pro League ( fa, links=no, لیگ برتر ایران, ''Lig-e bartar-e Irân''), is the highest division of professional football in Iran. It is the top-level football league in Iran since its foundation. Each year, its top team becomes the Iranian football champion, and the two lowest finishers are relegated to Azadegan League.
