picture info	Malama Katulwende Malama Katulwende is a Zambian author and thinker, born in the Luapula province of this Southern African country. A teacher by profession and educated in Catholic Seminaries and at the University of Zambia (UNZA), he first appeared on the literary scene with poems published in an anthology titled ''Under the African Skies: Poetry form Zambia'' in 2001. In 2005, his novel ''Bitterness'' was published in the United States and launched him internationally as a young, promising African writer. For this novel, he was awarded the ''2006 Julius Chongo Best Creative Writer in Zambia'' at the Ngoma Awards Ceremony held in Lusaka. The book has been used by Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, among others, for its courses in anthropology. In 2011, Katulwende published a philosophical collection of essays, ''The Fire At The Core: Discourses on Aesthetics, Music, Jurisprudence, Ethno-Politics and Good Governance'', in which he tackled recurring themes of Zambia's underdevelopment and poli ... 	Malama Meleisea Malama Meleisea is a Samoan historian and the author of several historical books on Samoa. He holds the Samoan title Leasiolagi. Meleisea is from Poutasi in Falealili. He worked as a teacher before studying at the University of Papua New Guinea and Australian National University. He holds a Phd in History and Politics from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. In 1978 he became a lecturer at the University of the South Pacific. He was the founding director of Macmillan Brown Centre for Pacific Studies at Canterbury University and director at Centre for Pacific Studies at Auckland University, New Zealand. In 2007 he was appointed UNESCO director in Bangladesh. Between 2011 and 2012 he served as a judge on the Land and Titles Court of Samoa. In 2016 he was appointed as one of the commissioners for a commission of inquiry into domestic violence in Samoa. 	Malama Solomon A. Leiomalama 'Malama' Solomon (born March 3, 1951) is an American politician and a Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member of the Hawaii Senate representing District 4. Solomon was originally appointed to the District 1 Senate seat by Governor of Hawaii, Governor Neil Abercrombie on December 21, 2010, to fill the vacancy caused by the appointment of Dwight Takamine as Hawaii Director of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. She served in that seat until her election to the District 4 seat, which she has held since 2013. 	SS Malama ''Milwaukee Bridge'' was a steam cargo ship built in 1918–1919 by Submarine Boat Company of Newark for the United States Shipping Board (USSB) as part of the wartime shipbuilding program of the Emergency Fleet Corporation (EFC) to restore the nation's Merchant Marine. The vessel was first briefly employed on the East Coast to United Kingdom route in the first two years of her career before being laid up at the end of 1921. In 1927 she was acquired by Matson Navigation Company to operate between California and Hawaii and renamed ''Malama''.
