Desanka Maksimović
Desanka Maksimović ( sr-Cyrl, Десанка Максимовић; 16 May 1898 – 11 February 1993) was a Serbian poet, writer and translator. Her first works were published in the literary journal ''Misao'' in 1920, while she was studying at the University of Belgrade. Within a few years, her poems appeared in the '' Serbian Literary Herald'', Belgrade's most influential literary publication. In 1925, Maksimović earned a French Government scholarship for a year's study at the University of Paris. Upon her return, she was appointed a professor at Belgrade's elite First High School for Girls, a position she would hold continuously until World War II. In 1933, Maksimović married Sergej Slastikov, a Russian émigré writer. After being dismissed from her post at the high school by the Germans in 1941, she was reduced to a state of poverty and forced to work odd jobs to survive the three-year occupation. Marko Maksimović ( Serbian Cyrillic: Марко Максимовић; born 20 August 1984) is a Bosnian professional football manager and former player. Club career Maksimović played youth football in the Džaja football school in his hometown of Banja Luka. His professional career started at another Banja Luka club - FK Borac. He is considered to have been a very creative and hard-working midfielder which secured him a place in the Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 national team. He played for NK Zagreb and Istra 1961 in the Croatian Prva HNL. Maksimović signed with Sarajevo in July 2007. Rajko Maksimović ( sr-cyr, Рајкo Максимовић; 27 July 1935 – 16 August 2024) was a Serbian composer, writer, and music pedagogue. Biography Rajko Maksimović was born on 27 July 1935 in Belgrade, Serbia. He graduated in 1961, and in 1965 received a master's degree in composition from the Music Academy in Belgrade (today Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade (FMU)) in the class of Professor Predrag Milošević. Following the completion of his master's program and as a recipient of a Fulbright grant, he attended Princeton University, with a main focus on electronic music. In 1963, Maksimović was appointed an assistant professor, and in 1967 a docent at the Department for Composition and Orchestration at the Belgrade Music Academy. Ivan 'Ivica' Maksimović (12 August 1962 – 7 November 2019) was a Serbian rock, Balkan ethnic, folk and pop guitarist. He was also a composer, arranger songwriter and actor. He played in the Yugoslavian heavy metal band Metro, pop-folk band 'Ljute papričice' and was a member of The No Smoking Orchestra. He was also active in several other side projects with pop singers. Suzana Maksimović ( sr, Сузана Максимовић; born 5 January 1962) is a Serbian and Yugoslav chess player who holds the title of Woman Grandmaster. Dragan Maksimović ( sr-cyr, Драган Максимовић; 7 February 1949 – 4 February 2001) was a Serbian actor. Biography Maksimović (nicknamed Maks) performed in more than sixty theatrical plays, movies and TV productions, between 1971 and 1999. Boban Maksimović (Serbian Cyrillic: Бобан Максимовић; born 10 October 1985) is a Swiss football midfielder. Ljubomir Maksimović (Skopje, November 27, 1938), Serbian Byzantologist. Life Maksimović got his BA (1961), MA (1965) and PhD (1971) in history at the Faculty of Philosophy of Belgrade University. At the same faculty he became an assistant in 1961, assistant professor in 1971, associated professor in 1978, professor in 1986 and, finally, the chair of the department for Byzantine history.
