The Magritte Award for Best Actor (french: Magritte du meilleur acteur) is an award presented annually by the Académie André Delvaux. It is given in honor of an actor who has delivered an outstanding performance in a leading role while working within the film industry. It is one of the Magritte Awards, which were established to recognize excellence in Belgian cinematic achievements. The 1st Magritte Awards ceremony was held in 2011 with Jonathan Zaccaï receiving the award for his role in '' Private Lessons''. As of the 2022 ceremony, Jean Le Peltier is the most recent winner in this category for his role in '' Madly in Life''. The Académie André Delvaux is a Belgium, Belgian professional organisation dedicated to the promotion and development of Cinema of Belgium, Belgian cinema. Founded in 2010, it is responsible for the annual Magritte Awards, Belgium's principal film awards. History The Académie André Delvaux was founded by two associations: the Francophone Film Producers Association (UPFF), represented by Patrick Quinet, Marion Hänsel, Olivier Bronckart and Philippe Kauffmann, and the association of authors Pro Spère, represented by Luc Jabon, André Buytaers, Benoît Coppée and Alok Nandi. Its name was chosen in honour of the Belgian film director André Delvaux (1926–2002). The academy aims to promote the Belgian film industry around the globe. Benoît Poelvoorde (, ; born 22 September 1964) is a Belgian actor and comedian. Early life His mother was a grocer and his father a driver, who died when Poelvoorde was still a minor.
