Magic Time (Opa's Album)
Opa were an American jazz fusion band made up of Uruguayan members. They started in the 1970s, and released two albums in the US: Goldenwings (Milestone Records M-9069, 1976) and Magic Time (Milestone Records M-9078, 1977). Both were produced by Brazilian musician and composer Airto Moreira. The band consisted of Hugo Fattoruso, George Fattoruso and Hugo "Ringo" Thielmann, plus guest artists Hermeto Pascoal, David Amaro, Barry Finnerty, Flora Purim, Ruben Rada, Gary Gazaway, Jose Pedro Beledo, etc. Opa had played on previous albums by Airto Moreira, like ''Fingers'' (CTI Records CTL 18), released in 1973, and '' Deodato/Airto in concert'' (CTI Records CTI 6041), released in 1974. Rock En Español
Rock en español () is a term used widely in the English-speaking world to refer to any kind of rock music featuring Spanish vocals. Compared to English-speaking bands, very few acts reached worldwide success or between Spanish-speaking countries due to a lack of promotion. Despite ''rock en español''s origins in the late 1950s, many rock acts achieved at best nationwide fame until the Internet consolidated the listeners. However, some ''rock en español'' artists did become internationally popular with the help of a promotional campaign from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s called "" ("Rock in your language"). Flora Purim
Flora Purim (born March 6, 1942) is a Brazilian jazz singer known primarily for her work in the jazz fusion style. She became prominent for her part in Return to Forever with Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke. She has recorded and performed with numerous artists, including Dizzy Gillespie, Gil Evans, Opa, Stan Getz, George Duke, Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, Santana, Jaco Pastorius, and her husband Airto Moreira. In 2002, Purim was the recipient of one of Brazil's highest awards, the 2002 Ordem do Rio Branco for Lifetime Achievement. She has been called "The Queen of Brazilian Jazz".
