T-Connection was a funk and disco group from Nassau, the Bahamas, who scored two hits on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 between 1977 and 1979. They did better on the US Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, where they had five Top 10 hits, including "Do What You Wanna Do", which reached #1, and "Everything Is Cool", which peaked at #10 on the US ''Billboard'' R&B chart. In the United Kingdom, they scored five entries in the UK Singles Chart, with "Do What You Wanna Do" their highest placed success at #11. Their track "Groove to Get Down" has been heavily sampled due to its inclusion on the 1986 ''Ultimate Breaks and Beats'' series. Criteria Studios is a recording studio in North Miami, Florida, founded in 1958 by musician Mack Emerman. Hundreds of gold, platinum, and diamond singles and albums have been recorded, mixed or mastered at Criteria, for many notable artists and producers. Facilities Criteria has seven studios, each with its own letter designation. Funk
Funk is a music genre that originated in African American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African Americans in the mid-20th century. It de-emphasizes melody and chord progressions and focuses on a strong rhythmic groove of a bassline played by an electric bassist and a drum part played by a percussionist, often at slower tempos than other popular music. Soul Music
Soul music is a popular music genre that originated in the African American community throughout the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It has its roots in African-American gospel music and rhythm and blues. Soul music became popular for dancing and listening, where U.S. record labels such as Motown, Atlantic and Stax were influential during the Civil Rights Movement. Cory Wade (music Producer)
Cory Wade (born May 6, 1936) former record producer, director of A&R, songwriter, publisher, and recording studio manager. He has produced more than 35 gold and platinum records from 1973 to 1982, and has won numerous music industry awards, a Grammy Award nomination, and two American Music Award nominations. Wade was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. He is best known for producing various hits within the disco genre in the 1970s and 1980s. As producer for TK Records, Wade produced the 1977 single "Do Ya Wanna Get Funky with Me," by Peter Brown, which became the first 12-inch single to sell a million copies. Cory Wade also produced hit recordings for Foxy, including " Get Off", selling more than a million 12-inch and album copies. Alex Sadkin
Alex Sadkin (April 9, 1949July 25, 1987) was an American record producer, engineer, mixer and mastering engineer. Sadkin grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida across the street from Bennett Elementary School, and played saxophone in Sunrise Junior High School and Fort Lauderdale High School. Sadkin attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables for his first year of college as a biology major. He attended Florida State University in Tallahassee where he played bass guitar with childhood friends Lyle LaBarbera (rhythm guitar) and Jim Hendee (drums), and singer Phil Turk. He eventually received his Bachelor of Science degree in geology in 1971. He got his start in the music industry as a saxophonist for the Las Olas Brass in Fort Lauderdale.
