Rammstein
Rammstein (, "ramming stone") is a German Neue Deutsche Härte band formed in Berlin in 1994. The band's lineup—consisting of lead vocalist Till Lindemann, lead guitarist Richard Kruspe, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christoph Schneider, and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz—has remained unchanged throughout their history, along with their approach to songwriting, which consists of Lindemann writing and singing the lyrics over instrumental pieces the rest of the band has completed beforehand. Prior to their formation, some members were associated with the punk rock acts Feeling B and First Arsch. After winning a local contest, Rammstein was able to record demos and send them to different record labels, eventually signing with Motor Music. Working with producer Jacob Hellner, they released their debut album ''Herzeleid'' in 1995. Though the album initially sold poorly, the band gained popularity through their live performances and the al ...

Sehnsucht (Rammstein Album)
''Sehnsucht'' (; "Desire") is the second studio album by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released on 22 August 1997 through Motor Music in Europe and Slash Records in the United States. It is the only album entirely in German to be certified platinum by the RIAA in the US. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Austrian and German charts. In 2020, ''Metal Hammer'' included it in their list of top 10 1997 albums. Cover art The album booklet folds out to reveal six different covers, one for each band member (each photo depicting the member with vintage medical / surgical instruments). The cover most commonly seen shows Till Lindemann with a surgical metal wire utensil worn as a muzzle and surgical forks over his eyes. The cover art was created by Austrian artist Gottfried Helnwein, who also created the cover for the Scorpions' '' Blackout'' album, which the ''Sehnsucht'' cover resembles. Rosenrot (song)
"Rosenrot" (German for "Rose-red") is a song by German industrial metal band Rammstein. It was released on 16 December 2005, as the second single from the band's album of the same name. The song was highly anticipated by fans of Rammstein, as it was first hailed in February 2004 to be the first single from the band's fourth studio album, ''Reise, Reise'' (the song "Mein Teil" took the honour instead). Content The lyrics tell of a man who is asked by his lover to retrieve a rose from a mountain, and falls to his death. The lyrics contain elements from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's poem "Heidenröslein" (while his poem " Erlkönig" similarly inspired the ''Reise, Reise'' track, "Dalai Lama"), and the story " Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot," from the Brothers Grimm. Till also seldom uses his trademark curling of 'R's in the song. The song features riffs used previously in " Stein um Stein". Music video The video was filmed at Măgura (near Brașov), Romania, and portrays the ban ...

Pussy (Rammstein Song)
"Pussy" is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released as the lead single from the band's sixth studio album, ''Liebe ist für alle da'' (2009) on 18 September 2009. The song was released with a controversial and sexually explicit music video in which the band members, portrayed by body-doubles during some of the close ups of specific body parts, are seen having sex with women. The first promotional video for the single was released online on 16 September 2009 at the Gauntlet. The video also confirmed the new album title. "Pussy" was Rammstein's first number one single in Germany. The song was remixed by Scooter, a fellow German artist, and the remix later appeared on the " Ich tu dir weh" single. It was the first Rammstein song to be released after their three-year hiatus. Music video The video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund and released online on 16 September 2009. The video features the band playing the song wearing leather outfits, interspersed wit ...

Mutter (song)
"Mutter" (German for "mother") is a power ballad by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein, released as the fourth single from the album of the same name. The single release includes "5/4", a song that is instrumental except for a Speak & Spell dialogue sample that was played as the intro for live shows since 2000, but wasn't released until 2002. Overview The song was confirmed by frontman Till Lindemann and guitarist Richard Kruspe to be a reference to their unhappy childhood relationships with their own mothers. The lyrics tell the story of a child not born from a womb but in an experiment, thus having no true father or mother. The lyrics describe his plan to kill both the mother "who never gave birth to him" and then himself. However, he fails to kill himself, instead ending up mutilated and no better off than before. The child begs and prays for strength, but his dead mother does not answer. The narrative of the song is similar to Mary Shelley's ''Frankenstein'', in that ...

Mein Herz Brennt
"Mein Herz brennt" (German for "My heart burns") is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. The song first appeared as the opening track to the band's third studio album, '' Mutter'' (2001), and was used as the opening track for concerts during that era. It also appeared on the band's greatest hits album ''Made in Germany 1995–2011'' (2011), being the only song on the album that, at the time of release, had not been released as a single or had a music video. The song was released as a single in 2012 to promote the then-upcoming video collection ''Videos 1995–2012''. A piano version of the song was released as a single on 7 December 2012. The song's lyrics involve a narrator describing the terrors of nightmares. The opening line of the song's intro and chorus (''Nun, liebe Kinder, gebt fein Acht. Ich habe euch etwas mitgebracht'', meaning "Now, dear children, pay attention. I have brought something for you") is taken from the German children's TV show ''Sandmännch ...

Ich Will
"Ich will" (German for "I Want") is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein from their third studio album '' Mutter''. It was originally released in Germany on 10 September 2001, but many channels did not air the music video (which was to debut on U.S. television the next evening) as it was released the day before the September 11 attacks. The German single contains a live cover of the Ramones song "Pet Sematary" sung by Rammstein keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz. Music video The music video of "Ich will" features the band members staging a bank robbery, making it seem as realistic as possible. The video shows both the robbery and its aftermath, and moves between these two scenes. During the robbery scenes, the band is shown entering a bank wearing stockings over their heads, except for Flake, who has a very large and elaborate bomb strapped to his chest. They quickly remove their masks and head for the front desk. A bank employee reaches for the panic button, bu ...

Herzeleid
''Herzeleid'' (; "Heartbreak") is the debut studio album by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein, first released on 25 September 1995 via Motor Music. Production and writing After signing up with Motor Music, the band was instructed to search for a producer, a position they didn't even know about since it wasn't usual in East Germany. They first suggested Bob Rock and Rick Rubin, but the label asked them to be less ambitious. The role was ultimately assigned to Jacob Hellner, known for his work with Clawfinger. Guitarist Richard Kruspe recalls the band's struggle during their time in Stockholm, Sweden, where the album was recorded. Because there wasn't a language that both members and producer could speak, the band couldn't properly express their disapproval of the way Hellner was making them sound. This was solved with the help of Dutch engineer Ronald Prent, who served as a middleman between Rammstein and Hellner. It took them seven days to finish the first song, due to t ...

Du Riechst So Gut
"Du riechst so gut" (, "you smell so good") is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released the band's first single on 24 August 1995, also acting as the lead single from their debut studio album, ''Herzeleid'' (1995). The song describes the inner thoughts of a predator hunting his prey. The title is said to be inspired by Patrick Süskind's ''Perfume'', a favourite novel of Till Lindemann's, the band's lead singer. The single was re-released in 1998 under the name "Du riechst so gut '98", featuring a different edit of the song and a new music video. Music video A music video was released for the song, depicting the band members shirtless in an all-white environment. The video opens with a Doberman Pinscher walking across the screen, with repeated cuts throughout of the dog looking curiously at the camera along with flowers shown in the ''Herzeleid'' album cover and this single. Till Lindemann is portrayed in simple close-up shots, sternly singing the lyri ...

Du Hast
"Du hast" () is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released as the second single from their second album ''Sehnsucht'' (1997). It has appeared on numerous soundtracks for films, most notably '' The Matrix: Music from the Motion Picture'', ''How High'', and the home video ''CKY2K''. It is featured in the music video games ''Guitar Hero 5'' and ''Rock Band 3''. The song's title is a play on the homophones ''du hasst'' ("you hate") and ''du hast'' ("you have"). Overview There are two versions of the song: the original version completely in German, and a second version partially in English (found on special editions of the ''Sehnsucht'' album). In the second version, the first chorus and the verses are in English and the last chorus is in German. The English lyrics are not a direct translation of the German; the original lyrics take advantage of a pair of German homophones: when conjugated in the second person singular form (i.e. "you"), the verbs ''haben'' ...

Mein Teil
"Mein Teil" (German for "My part" or "My share", slang for "My penis") is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released as the lead single from their fourth studio album, '' Reise, Reise'' (2004), on 26 July 2004. "Mein Teil" attracted controversy in Germany; the media dubbed it "Das Kannibalenlied" ("The Cannibal-Song") due to its lyrics referring to the Armin Meiwes cannibalism case, which helped to boost it to second place in the German music charts after its release in early August 2004. It was also a number-one hit in Spain. Remixes of the song were done by Arthur Baker and Pet Shop Boys. "Mein Teil" was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 48th Grammy Awards but lost to Slipknot's " Before I Forget". Background and composition The song is inspired by the case of Armin Meiwes and Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes. In March 2001, in Rotenburg an der Fulda, the two men aged in their 40s met each other, cut off and cooked Brandes' penis and consume ...
