Sarah Broom Macnaughtan
Sarah Broom Macnaughtan (26 October 1864 – 24 July 1916) was a Scottish novelist. With the outbreak of the First World War, she volunteered with the Red Cross Society and was sent to Russia, then Armenia. She wrote much about the plight of refugees from the Armenian genocide. She died of an illness contracted while abroad. Life Born in Partick, Scotland, the fourth daughter and sixth child of Peter Macnaughtan and Julia Blackman, she was educated at home by her father. After her parents died, she moved to Kent in England, then to London. There she began a writing career with her first novel, ''Selah Harrison'', published in 1898. Her best-known works were ''The Fortune of Christina M'Nab'' (1901), ''A Lame Dog's Diary'' (1905), and ''The Expensive Miss Du Cane'' (1900). Meanwhile she travelled to Canada, South America, South Africa, the Middle East and India, among other locations. Alan MacNaughtan
Alan MacNaughtan (4 March 1920 – 29 August 2002) was a Scottish actor, born in Bearsden, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. He was educated at the Glasgow Academy, trained at RADA, and graduated in 1940 with the Bancroft Gold Medal. An experienced Old Vic, West End and Broadway actor, he became active in television and certain films between 1954 and 1999. Television career MacNaughtan played many guest roles in productions of the 1960s and 1970s including ''Dr. Finlay's Casebook'', '' The Avengers'', '' The Baron'', ''"The Maze"'' (ATV/ITC, 1966), '' Department S'', ''Who Plays the Dummy?'' (ATV/ITC, 1969), ''The Saint'', '' The Professionals'', ''A Stirring of Dust'' (LWT/Avengers Mark 1, 1978). He also played Major Brenan, a deceptive MI5 agent in '' The Ghost Talks (Randall and Hopkirk Deceased)'' in 1969. Andrew MacNaughtan
Andrew Neil MacNaughtan (25 February 196425 January 2012) was a Canadian photographer and music video director. Work MacNaughtan won four Juno Awards for his work as a photographer, director and album art designer, including three wins for CD/DVD Artwork Design of the Year in 1995 for Our Lady Peace's album '' Naveed'', in 1998 for Tom Cochrane's '' Songs of a Circling Spirit'' and in 2004 for Jann Arden's '' Love Is the Only Soldier'', and one win for Music DVD of the Year for Rush's ''Rush in Rio'' in 2004. Artists for whom MacNaughtan directed music videos included Rush, Great Big Sea, The Gandharvas, Aaron Carter, Michael Bublé and SHeDAISY. He also launched ArtGivesHope, a charity to help families in Africa affected by HIV/AIDS, in the early 2010s. He published the photography book ''Grace: Africa in Photographs'' in 2011 to raise funds for the organization. The charity was inspired by MacNaughtan's work photographing Live8 in 2005.
