Machiel Brandenburg (4 May 1907 in Rotterdam – 30 May 1984 in Cape Town) was a painter and drawing artist. Brandenburg studied until 1929 at the Academie van Beeldende Kunsten en Technische Wetenschappen, now the Willem de Kooning Academy. Machiel De Graaf
Machiel de Graaf (; born 26 June 1969) is a Dutch politician and physical therapist. As a member of the Party for Freedom (PVV) he was a member of the Senate of the Netherlands, Senate as well as Parliamentary group leader, Senate group leader from 7 June 2011 to 20 September 2012. He has been an House of Representatives (Netherlands), MP since 20 September 2012. He has already been a PVV member of the municipal council of The Hague since 11 March 2010 as well as fraction leader since 20 January 2011. De Graaf origins from a family of fishermen of Scheveningen. Educated as a physiotherapist, he worked in this branch from 1995 to 1999 and as a salesmanager in the pharmaceutical industry from 1999 to 2008. Machiel Van Den Heuvel
Machiel van den Heuvel (7 May 1900, Haarlemmermeer – 29 June 1946, near Bandung) was a Dutch army officer. As a prisoner-of-war in Oflag IV-C at Colditz Castle, Germany, during World War II, he served as Escape Officer for the Dutch POWs, a role also held by Captain Pat Reid, the author of ''The Colditz Story'', for the British. Van den Heuvel played a key role in most Dutch officer escapes (such as Hans Larive, Francis Steinmetz and Anthony Luteyn) during the war. POW Machiel ("Jim") van den Heuvel, known as "Vandy" by the British POW's, was a captain in the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) who happened to be in the Netherlands at the outbreak of World War II in May 1940. After the Dutch capitulation he refused to give his word of honour not to harm German interests and was sent to a German POW camp. Here van den Heuvel was quickly appointed Escape Officer.
