Maarten Van Grimbergen
Maarten Albert van Grimbergen (born October 4, 1959 in Eindhoven, North Brabant) is a former field hockey player from the Netherlands, who played a total number of 145 international matches for the Dutch Men's Nation Team, in which he scored 36 goals. The striker made his debut in 1980, and played club hockey for Eindhovense Mixed Hockey Club and HC Klein Zwitserland. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. The Eindhovense Mixed Hockey Club (acronym: EMHC) was a Dutch field hockey club, which was located in Eindhoven, North Brabant. The club was founded on October 14, 1921, and had about 1,000 members. This made it the second biggest club of the city, after neighbouring Oranje Zwart. In 2016, the club merged with Oranje Zwart. The name of the new club is HC Oranje-Rood. Hockey Club Klein Zwitserland, commonly known as Klein Zwitserland, is a Dutch field hockey club based in The Hague, South Holland. The women and men's first team compete in the hoofdklasse, the highest league of Dutch field hockey. The club was founded on 20 September 1908. They were incredibly successful during the 1970s, winning 8 national titles in a row. The first men team played continuously on the highest level of Dutch hockey from 1974 until 2007.
