MTV Unplugged (Kayah Album)
''MTV Unplugged'' is a live album by Polish singer Kayah, released in 2007 by Kayax. Background The album was Kayah's first release on her own record label Kayax, and also the first ''MTV Unplugged'' album in East-Central Europe. The material was recorded live at an intimate concert for just over 200 people on 28 November 2006 in Łódź, Poland, featuring guest appearances by Polish pop-jazz singer Anna Maria Jopek and American beatboxer Chesney Snow. The performance aired on MTV Polska on 21 December 2006 and was subsequently released on CD and DVD, the latter including two more tracks, an interview with Kayah, and making-of footage. The album reached number 4 on the Polish sales chart and was certified gold for selling 15,000 copies. The DVD was also certified gold for sales exceeding 5,000 items. Kayah (singer)
Katarzyna Magdalena Rooijens (née Szczot; born 5 November 1967 in Warsaw), professionally known as Kayah, is a Polish singer-songwriter performing a variety of music genres, including pop, soul, jazz, world and dance. She has also experimented with disco, funk, electronica as well as Balkan and Jewish music. Kayah released her first self-written album in 1995 and has since established herself as one of the most critically and commercially successful Polish singers. She is one of the most awarded artists by the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry (ZPAV) and has placed fourth on Polish music magazine '' Machina''s list of "50 best Polish female singers". Kayah has sold over one million records in Poland and most of her albums have been certified platinum or gold by ZPAV. Anna Maria Jopek
Anna Maria Jopek (born 14 December 1970) is a Polish vocalist, songwriter, and improviser. She represented Poland in the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest, with the song "Ale jestem" and finished 11th out of 25 participating acts; and in 2002, she collaborated on an album with jazz guitarist Pat Metheny. She has received numerous awards for her music, including Michel Legrand's Personal Award in Vitebsk in 1994, as well as all of the awards for music in Poland, together with gold and platinum records. Biography She is the daughter of Mazowsze singer Stanisław Jopek (1935–2006), known as the "First Coachman of Poland" for his signature song "Furman" (The Coachman), and former Mazowsze dancer Maria Stankiewicz. The Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry ( pl, Związek Producentów Audio-Video, ZPAV) is the trade organization that represents the interests of the music industry in Poland, and the Polish chapter of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). Founded in 1991, it is authorized by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage to act as a copyright collective in the field of phonogram and videogram producers' rights. The Polish music charts are provided by ZPAV, the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry (Polish: Związek Producentów Audio-Video). Albums charts In the 1970s and the 1980s, Polish music monthly ''Non Stop'' published a year-end list of the best selling albums in Poland. In the mid-1990s, two monthly sales lists were launched and published in music magazines. The first one was a top 50 compiled by ZPAV, based on shipment, not sales, which continues to be published to date. The other was a top 100 called Gorąca Setka (English: Hot 100), printed monthly in ''Gazeta Muzyczna''. This chart was compiled from actual sale figures as reported by over 130 music shops across Poland and included both albums and singles. In cinema, behind-the-scenes (BTS), also known as the making-of, the set, or on the set, is a type of documentary film that features the production of a film or television program. MTV Polska
MTV Polska is the Polish-language version of the general entertainment channel MTV. It was launched on July 7, 2000, replacing local music channel Atomic TV. The channel is operated by Paramount Networks EMEAA from its headquarters in Warsaw. The channel broadcasts a number of programming in Polish with either subtitled or dubbed programming from the American and British versions of MTV. Chesney Snow (born 1979) is an American stage actor, musician, songwriter, and beat-boxer. He is known for appearing in the role of Boxman in the Primary Stages production of the a cappella musical '' In Transit''. He reprised his role as Boxman in the first Broadway run of ''In Transit''.
