MLAIC
The Muzzle Loaders Associations International Committee (MLAIC) is the world governing body for competition with muzzle-loading firearms. Both originals (made prior to 1900) and replica's thereof. MLAIC organises World Championships on even-numbered years, with European and Long Range Championships run in odd-numbered years. In 2022, Deutscher Schützenbund hosted the 29th World Championship in Pforzheim, Germany. History From an early document by our Patron, Paul Marchand 1976. While M.L. guns were always used in Europe, especially hunting by farmers, there was no shooting club for old gun fans. In the U.S., Red Farris and Oscar Seth held a first shooting match at Portsmouth (Ohio) on 22 February 1931, then founded the N.M.L.R.A. in 1935, and held a yearly championship at Friendship (Indiana) attended by many shooters. Muzzle-loading
A muzzleloader is any firearm into which the projectile and the propellant charge is loaded from the muzzle of the gun (i.e., from the forward, open end of the gun's barrel). This is distinct from the modern (higher tech and harder to make) designs of breech-loading firearms. The term "muzzleloader" applies to both rifled and smoothbore type muzzleloaders, and may also refer to the marksman who specializes in the shooting of such firearms. The firing methods, paraphernalia and mechanism further divide both categories as do caliber (from cannons to small-caliber palm guns). Modern muzzleloading firearms range from reproductions of sidelock, flintlock and percussion long guns, to in-line rifles that use modern inventions such as a closed breech, sealed primer and fast rifling to allow for considerable accuracy at long ranges. Norwegian Black Powder Union
The Norwegian Black Powder Union, ''Norwegian'' Norsk Svartkruttunion (NSU), is the Norwegian association for muzzleloading competition shooting under the Muzzle Loaders Associations International Committee (MLAIC) and Muzzle Loading Association Scandinavian Committee (MLASC). NSU was founded 2 December 1983 by Ragnar Hegge, and aims to preserve Norwegian history of fireams as well as to exercise shooting according to the old methods. Competition rules are given by MLAIC, but NSU also offer own separate national equipment divisions for historical Norwegian military and civilian muzzleloaders from the end of the 19th century. In these competitions many choose to dress in themed clothing appropriate for the time period of their firearm. Some of the oldest firearms which have been used in competitions arranged by NSU is a matchlock mechanism from the 15th century.

Deutscher Schützenbund
The German Shooting Sport and Archery Federation (german: Deutscher Schützenbund, DSB) is the largest umbrella organization for sport shooters in Germany. It was founded in 1861 in Gotha and re-founded in 1951 in Frankfurt / Main. DSB was Germany's fourth-largest sports association in 2008, with 1,095,071 male and 357,400 female shooters. Besides the well-known Olympic disciplines of Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun and Archery the German Shooting and Archery Federation also looks after the disciplines of Running Target, Muzzle-loader, Field Archery, Crossbow and Summer Biathlon. The senior administrative body of the German Shooting and Archery Federation is the biannual General Meeting of Members. Muzzle Loaders Association Of Great Britain
The Muzzle Loaders Association of Great Britain was formed in 1952 and is the governing body for muzzle loading within the UK. It is recognized by the Muzzle Loaders Associations International Committee. Its objectives are to encourage an interest in muzzle loading firearms; to promote, regulate and safeguard their use; and to preserve their freedom of collection. It produces a quarterly magazine called ''Black Powder''. Until 2014, the Association occupied the Grade-II "Muzzleloader's Association Hut" at the National Shooting Centre, Bisley.
