The M. Ct. family, formerly known as the S. Rm. M. M. Ct. family, is a family of industrialist and bankers from Tamil Nadu, India. Belonging to the Nagarathar community, they are descendants of S. Rm. M. Chidambaram Chettiar of the S. Rm. M. family and trace their ancestral roots to Kanadukathan in the Sivaganga district. First generation * Sir M. Ct. Nagarathar
The Nagarathar (also known as Nattukottai Chettiar) is a Tamil people, Tamil caste found native in Tamil Nadu, India. They are a mercantile community who are traditionally involved in commerce, banking and Money-Lending, money lending. They use the title Chettiar and are traditionally concentrated in modern region Chettinad. Diwan Bahadur
Dewan Bahadur or Diwan Bahadur was a title of honour awarded during British rule in India. It was awarded to individuals who had performed faithful service or acts of public welfare to the nation. From 1911 the title was accompanied by a special Title Badge. Dewan literally means Prime Minister in Indian context and ''Bahadur'' means brave. This title was above Rao Bahadur title and people with Rao Bahadur could be elevated to status of Diwan Bahadur. Further, the Prime Ministers of Indian Princely States were known as Dewan/ Diwan. Karti Chidambaram (born 16 November 1971) is an Indian politician and businessman. A member of the Indian National Congress, he serves as the Member of Parliament for Sivaganga in the Lok Sabha.
