M. V. Jayarajan (born 24 May 1960) is an Indian politician and a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist )Kerala State Committee and secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist )Kannur District Committee. Personal Life He was born to V. K. Kumaran and M. V. Devaki on 24 May 1960. He is a graduate and has an LLB. He married K. Leena and has two sons. Political career He held the positions of all India joint secretary and state secretary of DYFI, the youth wing of CPI(M), during his youth. He was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1996 and 2001 from Edakkad constituency in Kannur District. Pinarayi Vijayan (; born 24 May 1945) is an Indian Communist politician who is the current Chief Minister of Kerala, serving since 25 May 2016. A member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), he is the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) (1998–2015). He also served in the government of Kerala as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives from 1996 to 1998. Vijayan won a seat in the May 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election as the CPI(M) candidate for Dharmadom constituency and was selected as the leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and became the 12th Chief Minister of Kerala. Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) is a youth organisation in India. It was founded in its inaugural conference held from 1–3 November 1980 at Shaheed Kartar Singh Saraba village in Ludhiana, Punjab. DYFI identifies itself to be an independent organisation.
