M. P. De Z. Siriwardena
Michael Paul de Zoysa Siriwardena (6 September 1906 – 15 October 1978) was a Ceylonese politician. He was a Cabinet Minister and Chief Government Whip. He served as Member of Parliament from the Minuwangoda from 1960 to 1977. Siriwardena was elected to Parliament from the Minuwangoda Electoral District in the Parliamentary elections in March 1960 from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party retaining the seat in the subsequent elections in July that year. He was appointed as the Minister of Labour and Nationalised Services in 1960 and served until 1963, when he was appointed Minister of Public Works and Post. In 1964 he was appointed Chief Government Whip. He was re-elected in the Parliamentary elections in 1965 and Parliamentary elections in 1970. Ceylon

Stanley De Zoysa
Stanley de Zoysa (27 June 1907 - 10 December 1970) was a Sri Lankan businessmen and politician. He was the former Cabinet Minister of Finance (1956–1959) in S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike's government, subsequently Minister of Interior (1959–1960) and Ceylon's Ambassador to Indonesia. De Zoysa was the son of Sir Francis de Zoysa, KC an Advocate and member of the first State Council, and Lady Ethel Perera Amarasekera Siriwardena. He had several siblings, some of who gained prominence in several fields: Sydney de Zoysa (former Deputy inspector general of police), A. C. "Bunty" de Zoysa (President's Counsel), Violet Rajapakse (who married Tudor Rajapakse), Olga de Zoysa (first Miss Ceylon), and Lucien de Zoysa (famous cricket commentator). 1970 Ceylonese Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Ceylon in 1970. Background SLFP leader Sirimavo Bandaranaike had come to the conclusion that her party's best hope of power was forming a permanent alliance with Ceylon's Marxist parties. She assembled the SLFP, the Trotskyist LSSP, and the Communists into the United Front coalition. The UF's platform was called the ''Common Programme''; it featured extensive nationalization, a non-aligned foreign policy, expanded social programmes, and replacement of the British-imposed, monarchical Soulbury constitution with a republican constitution. The UNP government of Dudley Senanayake had not made much headway with Ceylon's twin problems of inflation and unemployment, nor had it attempted solving the linked problems of feudal property relations and adverse terms of trade by agrarian reform and industrialisation.
