M-212 (Michigan Highway)
M-212 is a Michigan State Trunkline Highway System, state trunkline highway in the US state of Michigan. It provides access from M-33 (Michigan highway), M-33 to the community of Aloha, Michigan, Aloha on Mullett Lake's eastern shore and Aloha State Park, where the highway ends. It is shorter than all other signed highways in the state, including M-143 (Michigan highway), M-143 at and the business route, M-32 Business (Hillman, Michigan), Business M-32 in Hillman, Michigan, Hillman at , which is about longer. M-212 was assigned on December 29, 1937, from the intersection with Second Street to an intersection with U.S. Route 23 in Michigan, US Highway 23 (US 23). Aloha State Park
Aloha State Park is a public recreation area located south of Cheboygan, Michigan, Cheboygan in Cheboygan County, Michigan, Cheboygan County, Michigan. The state park covers on the northeast side of Mullett Lake at the center of the Inland Waterway (Michigan), Inland Lakes Waterways. History The park was created when Cheboygan County purchased an initial eight acres of abandoned land that had been a park created by the Detroit and Mackinac Railway. The county added another twenty acres to that holding in order to reach the 28-acre minimum required for the establishment of a state park. All of it was donated to the state in 1923. Activities and amenities The park offers camping, boating, swimming, and fishing, and is skirted by the North Eastern State Trail. The trail preserves the roadbed of the railroad that set aside the parcel of land used to help create the park. The State Trunkline Highway System consists of all the state highways in Michigan, including those designated as Interstate, United States Numbered (US Highways), or State Trunkline highways. In their abbreviated format, these classifications are applied to highway numbers with an ''I''-, ''US'', or ''M''- prefix, respectively. The system is maintained by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and comprises of trunklines in all 83 counties of the state on both the Upper and Lower peninsulas (UP, LP), which are linked by the Mackinac Bridge. WKFR
WKFR (103.3 FM), also known as KFR, is a Top 40 outlet serving the Kalamazoo, Michigan radio market. It broadcasts with an ERP of 50 kW in Battle Creek, Michigan and is owned by Townsquare Media. History The station began operations in June 1963 as WELL-FM at 96.5 MHz, duplicating the programming of then-sister WELL/1400 (now WBFN). In 1964 WELL-AM-FM became WKFR-AM-FM; the AM station became Top 40 rocker "Keener 14" while the FM station, which also moved to 103.3 Megahertz, programmed Beautiful Music. In 1972 WKFR changed its calls to WKNR after those calls were dropped by the former WKNR in Detroit, but the FM station remained WKFR-FM. WFGR (98.7 FM) is an American radio station serving Grand Rapids, Michigan. It transmits from their facility in Alpine Township. WFGR is owned by Townsquare Media. The WFGR signal can be heard as far north as Stanwood, Michigan, far east as Pewamo, Michigan, and as far south as Plainwell, Michigan. History WFGR was previously a classical music station throughout the 1990s, broadcasting the World Classical Network from WFCC-FM in Chatham, Massachusetts. It changed its format to oldies music as "Oldies 98.7" on October 11, 2004 when Grand Rapids' current oldies station at the time, WODJ, was displaced by rock station WKLQ. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a United States National Lakeshore located along the northwest coast of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan in Leelanau and Benzie counties near Empire, Michigan. The park covers a stretch of Lake Michigan's eastern coastline, as well as North and South Manitou islands. This Northern Michigan park was established primarily because of its outstanding natural features, including forests, beaches, dune formations, and ancient glacial phenomena. The lakeshore also contains many cultural features including the 1871 South Manitou Island Lighthouse, three former stations of the Coast Guard (formerly the Life-Saving Service) and an extensive rural historic farm district. M-209 (Michigan Highway)
M-209 was a state trunkline highway in the Lower Peninsula of the US state of Michigan. It was located in Leelanau County in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Until it was decommissioned, it was Michigan's shortest state highway. M-209 started at M-109 and went just over mile (about ) to Glen Haven. In 1995, M-209's designation was "abandoned", and the road was turned over to the jurisdiction of the Leelanau County Road Commission. Route description M-209 was the short connector route from M-109 to the Glen Haven unit of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore west of Glen Arbor. The southern terminus of the highway was at the intersection with M-109 south of Glen Haven, a restored logging village on the shore of Lake Michigan on the Leelanau Peninsula. Lake Huron ( ) is one of the five Great Lakes of North America.
