Løkken Idrettsforening is a Norwegian sports club from Løkken Verk, Sør-Trøndelag. It has sections for association football, speed skating and Nordic skiing. It was founded on 21 November 1896 as ''Meldalskogen SL''. The name was changed to ''Løkken IL'' on 30 March 1898. The name was changed to ''Løkken IF'' on 26 July 1947 as two clubs merged with Løkken IL. One club was ''IF Thor'', founded in 1918 and incorporating the short-lived ''Løkken AIL'' (1924–1926). ''IF Thor'' was a member of the Workers' Confederation of Sports, but later joined the Red Sport federation. When they did that, a new Workers' Confederation of Sports club was founded by the name ''SK Fjell'' in 1930. This was the third club to participate in the 1947 merger. Kåre Karlsson
Kåre Ingemar Karlsson (born 28 January 1924) is a Swedish former ski jumper. He was born in Løkken Verk in Norway, and grew up there with his ski jumper brothers Arthur and Evert Karlsson. They represented the sports club Løkken IF. Kåre Karlsson moved to Örnsköldsvik in his father's home country Sweden in 1944, and joined the club IF Friska Viljor. He finished 21st at the 1950 World Ski Championships. Three other Løkken IF members (current or former) participated here; Evert Karlsson, Arthur E. Meldal
Meldal is a former municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 2020 when it joined Orkland Municipality. It was part of the Orkdalen region. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Meldal. Other villages included Løkken Verk, Bjørnli, Å, and Storås. The municipality was most renowned for its mining activities at Løkken Verk, being the birthplace of the ''Orkla mining company'', now Orkla Group. It was also home to the annual Storåsfestivalen music festival. At the time of its dissolution in 2020, the municipality was the 184th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Jan Egil Storholt (born 13 February 1949) is a former speed skater from Norway. He was born in Løkken Verk which at the time was part of the Meldal municipality. Biography Together with Amund Sjøbrend, Sten Stensen, and Kay Stenshjemmet, Jan Egil Storholt was one of the legendary ''four S-es'' (which sounds like "four aces" in Norwegian), four Norwegian top skaters in the 1970s and early 1980s. Storholt grew up in the village of Løkken about from Trondheim. He became a member of sports club ''Falken'' ("Falcon") in Trondheim.
