Lökbatan
Lokbatan is a settlement and municipality in Baku, Azerbaijan. It has a population of 33,245. The municipality consists of the settlements of Lokbatan, Shubany, and Heybat. It is the location of a large mud volcano, and a historic oilfield. One of the first moving pictures filmed in Azerbaijan was of an oil well blowout in the 1930s. The mud volcano produced spectacular flames of natural gas in October 2001. Qaradağ Lökbatan FK
Qaradağ Lökbatan FK ( az, Qaradağ Lökbatan Futbol Klubu) is an Azerbaijani football club based in Lökbatan. History The club was established in 2009 under the name of ''Neftchi-ISM'' as Neftchi Baku's reserve team, and played in Azerbaijan First Division. However, reserve teams cannot play in the same division as their senior team and therefore the club was ineligible for promotion to the Azerbaijan Premier League. The club became independent of Neftchi in 2011 and was renamed Qaradağ Lökbatan FK, which would allow them to participate in Premier League if they secured promotion from the First Division. On 10 April 2012, the club finished top in the First Division, which would normally result in promotion to Azerbaijan Premier League. Lökbatan Mud Volcano
Lökbatan Mud Volcano ( az, Lökbatan palçıq vulkanı), also known as Lok-Batan Mud Cone, is a mud volcano located in Absheron Peninsula near the settlement of Lökbatan in Qaradağ raion of Baku, Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijan First Division ( az, Azərbaycan Birinci Divizionu) is the second highest professional division in Azerbaijani professional football (soccer), football. The division is run by Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan, AFFA. No teams are promoted to Azerbaijan Premier League, Premier Division. History Due to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, all Azerbaijan clubs of the former Soviet Top League, Soviet Premier Division and Soviet First League, Soviet First Division conformed a single Azerbaijan Premier League, which meant that the new second tier of Azerbaijan football would remain regionalized. For the first two seasons three regional groups conformed the second tier, until in 1994 the single table in use today began to be used. Competition format The First Division currently consists of 14 teams. All teams play each other two times.
