Lídia Pereira
Ana Lídia Fernandes Oliveira Pereira (born July 26, 1991) is a Portuguese politician of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. She is also president of the Youth of the European People's Party (YEPP). Early life and education Pereira has a degree in Economics from the University of Coimbra and a MSc in European Economic Studies from the College of Europe. Political career In the 2019 European elections Pereira was the first politician to run a carbon neutral political campaign, drawing attention to climate change. As number 2 in the list she stood out as a political renewal of Portuguese MEPs. Since joining the European Parliament, she has been serving as her parliamentary group's deputy coordinator in the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and as member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. Social Democratic Party (Portugal)
The Social Democratic Party ( pt, Partido Social Democrata, ; PSD) is a liberal-conservative political party in Portugal. Commonly known by its colloquial initials PSD, on ballot papers its initials appear as its official form PPD/PSD, with the first three letters coming from the party's original name, the Democratic People's Party (, PPD). A party of the centre-right, the PSD is one of the two major parties in Portuguese politics, its rival being the Socialist Party (PS) on the centre-left. The PSD was founded in 1974, two weeks after the Carnation Revolution and in 1976 adopted its current name. The Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) is a committee of the European Parliament. It has 81 full members and is currently chaired by Pascal Canfin. Evolution During the 1990s its relatively low importance led to its being referred to unfavourably by MEPs as the "Cinderella committee". However, since then the committee's powers have increased. The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, more commonly referred to as COP26, was the 26th United Nations Climate Change conference, held at the SEC Centre in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, from 31 October to 13 November 2021. The European Parliament (EP) is one of the legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Together with the Council of the European Union (known as the Council and informally as the Council of Ministers), it adopts European legislation, following a proposal by the European Commission. The 2019 European Parliament election was held between 23 and 26 May 2019, the ninth parliamentary election since the first direct elections in 1979. A total of 751 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) represent more than 512 million people from 28 member states.
