Lårdal
Lårdal is a village in Tokke Municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The village is located on the north shore of the lake Bandak and about south of the village of Høydalsmo and the European route E134 highway. The village is the site of Lårdal Church, a school, and a fast food store. Previously, there was also a grocery store, but it closed because the local population couldn't support it. Lårdal is also home to the former journalist and television presenter Bjørn Honerød. The village was historically the administrative centre of the old Lårdal Municipality from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. Lårdal (municipality)
Lårdal is a former municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The area centered around the Lårdalen valley and it is now part of Tokke Municipality. The administrative centre was the village of Lårdal. History The parish of Laardal was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt law). In 1879, there was a small border adjustment where a part of Laardal Municipality (population: 6) was transferred to Mo Municipality. During the 1960s, there were many municipal mergers across Norway due to the work of the Schei Committee. On 1 January 1964, Mo Municipality (population: 1,658) and Lårdal (population: 1,929) were merged to form a new municipality called Tokke. Lårdal Church
Lårdal Church ( no, Lårdal kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Tokke Municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Lårdal. It is one of the churches for the ''Høydalsmo og Lårdal'' parish which is part of the Øvre Telemark prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1831 using plans drawn up by the architect Hans Linstow. The church seats about 120 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1396, but the church was not built that year. The first church in Lårdal was a wooden stave church that was likely built during the 1200s. The old stave church was located at Eik, about to the southwest of the present church site. Vest-Telemark
The Vest-Telemark traditional district of Norway comprises the upper and western areas of the larger region of Upper Telemark in the county of Vestfold og Telemark. The region consists of six municipalities: Fyresdal, Tokke, Vinje, Nissedal, Kviteseid and Seljord. Vest-Telemark belongs to the traditional region Upper Telemark. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag.
