Lynn Morris (musician)
Lynn Morris (born October 8, 1948) is an American bluegrass musician. Morris was raised in Lamesa, Texas, where she learned to play piano at the age of 6 and guitar at the age of 11. She went to Colorado College and graduated with a degree in art. The following year she began to play the banjo. She played with bluegrass groups City Limits which she joined in 1972 and Whetstone Run. She toured full-time through various regions including the United States, Canada, and Europe. She also was nominated and joined the IBMA board of directors. After retiring from her tours in 2003 due to a stroke, she became an audio engineer, producing albums like Ron Stewart's (a former bandmate) album ''Time Stands Still'' in 2001. She also produces two different DVDs on her primary instrument the banjo in 2007 and 2009 titled "Mel Bay Presents Clawhammer Banjo Taught By Lynn Morris, v.1 and v.2," by Mel Bay Productions. Bluegrass music is a genre of American roots music The term American folk music encompasses numerous music genres, variously known as ''traditional music'', ''traditional folk music'', ''contemporary folk music'', ''vernacular music,'' or ''roots music''. Stuart Duncan
Stuart Duncan (born April 14, 1964) is an American bluegrass musician who plays the fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and banjo. Life Duncan was born in Quantico, Virginia, and raised in Santa Paula, California, where he played in the school band. He is married with three children. Duncan has been a member of the Nashville Bluegrass Band since 1985. He also works as a session musician and has played with numerous well-known performers, including George Strait, Dolly Parton, Guy Clark, Reba McEntire, and Barbra Streisand. In 2006, he toured with the Mark Knopfler–Emmylou Harris Roadrunning tour, and he appears on their ''All the Roadrunning'' and ''Real Live Roadrunning'' albums. In 2008, he joined Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on the tour for their critically acclaimed album ''Raising Sand''. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. The Walnut Valley Festival is an acoustic music festival held annually in Winfield, Kansas, United States. The main genre of music is bluegrass, but a wide variety of other acoustic styles are represented. The festival is held on the Wednesday through Sunday that includes the third Saturday of September. Audie Blaylock (born 1962) is an American singer, guitarist, mandolinist, and composer in the bluegrass tradition. Biography Early years Blaylock was born in El Paso, Texas, but was raised in Lansing, Michigan. Growing up in a family where both parents played music, he learned guitar at age 8. He grew up playing guitar and mandolin in local bands. Support for Other Artists In 1982, at age 19, Blaylock joined Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys, and spent nine years with them playing mandolin. In 1990, Blaylock worked with Red Allen until his death in 1993. Starting in 1993, Blaylock played both mandolin and guitar with the Lynn Morris Band. From 1997 until 2000, Blaylock played with Harley Allen (Red Allen's son). Lamesa, Texas
Lamesa ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Dawson County, Texas, United States. The population was 8,674 at the 2020 census, down from 9,952 at the 2000 census. Located south of Lubbock on the Llano Estacado, Lamesa was founded in 1903. Most of its economy is based on cotton farming. The Preston E. David McLaughlin is an American multi-instrumentalist. His mandolin prowess has helped clarify how Bill Monroe's style of playing can be applied to progressive bluegrass music. Biography McLaughlin was raised in the Washington D.C. area and now lives in Winchester, Virginia. He is the son of Nancy and Bill McLaughlin, who inspired his eclectic music tastes with their enthusiasm for blues and jazz. He is the younger brother of Peter McLaughlin, who sings and plays guitar with Laurie Lewis.
