Lyngen Line
Lyngen ( se, Ivggu suohkan; fkv, Yykeän komuuni) is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Lyngseidet. Other villages include Furuflaten, Lattervika, Nord-Lenangen, and Svensby. The municipality is the 141st largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Lyngen is the 240th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 2,729. The municipality's population density is and its population has decreased by 9.9% over the previous 10-year period. General information The parish of Lyngen was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt law). On 1 January 1867, the southern part of Karlsøy Municipality (population: 862) surrounding the Sørfjorden (innermost part of the Ullsfjorden) was transferred to Lyngen. Lyngseidet
Lyngseidet (also sme, Ivgumuotki or fkv, Yykeänmuotka) is the administrative centre of Lyngen Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located on an isthmus that is about wide between an arm of the Ullsfjorden and the Lyngenfjorden. The village is home to two grocery stores, Lyngen Church, nursing home, schools, daycare, pharmacy and library. A nine meter tall plastic figure Santa Claus named Gollis is also located here. Lyngseidet is located north of the village of Furuflaten and by ferry from Olderdalen, in the neighboring Kåfjord Municipality. Ullsfjord
Ullsfjord is a former municipality in Troms county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1902 until its dissolution in 1964. It was located in what is now the eastern part of Tromsø Municipality and the southwestern part of Lyngen Municipality. The municipality encompassed the area surrounding the Ullsfjorden between Tromsø and Lyngen. The administrative centre was the village of Sjursnes where Ullsfjord Church is located. Name The municipality was originally named ''Sørfjord'' from 1902 until 1938. This literally translates as "the southern fjord" (a branch of the larger Ullsfjorden). In 1938, the name of the municipality was changed to ''Ullsfjord'', after the name of the nearby Ullsfjorden. The horse (''Equus ferus caballus'') is a domesticated, one-toed, hoofed mammal. It belongs to the taxonomic family Equidae and is one of two extant subspecies of ''Equus ferus''. Lyngen (also known as , , or ) is a fjord in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The long fjord is the longest fjord in Troms and it is often used as the dividing line between "northern Troms" and "southern Troms". The fjord is located within the municipalities of Skjervøy, Nordreisa, Lyngen, Gáivuotna–Kåfjord, and Storfjord. It stretches from the village of Hatteng in Storfjord Municipality in the south all the way north to the islands of Skjervøy Municipality. The Lyngen Alps lie along the western shore of the fjord and the European route E06 highway runs along the eastern shore. The Kåfjorden branches off of the main fjord on the east side, and the southernmost part of the fjord is also known as the Storfjorden. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. The purpose was to co-operate on publishing encyclopaedias and dictionaries. The first volume of Store norske leksikon (SNL) was published in 1978. A total of four editions was published (the last one in 2004), before the online version was transferred to Institusjonen Fritt Ord og Sparebankstiftelsen DnB in 2011. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. Troms
Troms (; se, Romsa; fkv, Tromssa; fi, Tromssa) is a former county in northern Norway. On 1 January 2020 it was merged with the neighboring Finnmark county to create the new Troms og Finnmark county. This merger is expected to be reversed by the government resulting from the 2021 Norwegian parliamentary election. It bordered Finnmark county to the northeast and Nordland county in the southwest.
