Barbara Buhler Lynes
Barbara Buhler Lynes (born 1942) is an art historian, curator, professor, and preeminent scholar on the art and life of Georgia O'Keeffe. She retired on February 14, 2020 from her position as the Sunny Kaufman Senior Curator at the NSU Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to continue her scholarly work on O'Keeffe and American modernism. From 1999 to 2012, she served as the founding curator of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she curated or oversaw more than thirty exhibitions of works by O'Keeffe and her contemporaries. Lynes was also the Founding Emily Fisher Landau Director of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum Research Center from 2001 to 2012. Royal Raymond Rife (May 16, 1888 – August 5, 1971) was an American inventor and early exponent of high-magnification time-lapse cine-micrography. Rife is known for his microscopes, which he claimed could observe live microorganisms with a magnification considered impossible for his time, and for an "oscillating beam ray" invention, which he thought could treat various ailments by "devitalizing disease organisms" using radio waves. Although he came to collaborate with scientists, doctors and inventors of the epoch, and his findings were published in newspapers and scientific journals like the Smithsonian Institution annual report of 1944, they were later rejected by the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Cancer Society (ACS) and mainstream science. George Platt Lynes (April 15, 1907 – December 6, 1955) was an American fashion photography, fashion and advertising, commercial photographer who worked in the 1930s and 1940s. He produced photographs featuring many gay artists and writers from the 1940s that were acquired by the Kinsey Institute after his death in 1955. Jeanette Lynes is a Canadian author, poet and professor born in Hanover, Ontario. She went to high school in Hanover and Flesherton, Ontario. She then earned an Honours B.A. in English from York University, Toronto, and went on to earn an M.A. and a Ph.D. in English ( Canadian Literature) from York University. In 2005 she received an M.F.A. in Writing from the University of Southern Maine's low-residency Stonecoast Program. Jeanette has taught university in Canada and the United States since the mid-1980s. Roy Alan Lynes (born 25 October 1943, Redhill, Surrey) is an English musician and occasional singer, who was the keyboardist for the rock band Status Quo (originally The Spectres then Traffic Jam). He joined the band in 1964/1965, two years after its foundation. He appeared on Quo's first three albums – '' Picturesque Matchstickable Messages from the Status Quo'', '' Spare Parts'' and ''Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon'' – and wrote "To Be Free", the b-side of the second Quo single, "Black Veils of Melancholy". The track "Umleitung" was a co-composition with bassist Alan Lancaster, but was not released until the first album after Lynes' departure, 1971's ''Dog of Two Head''.
