Lyndale Park
Lyndale Park is a Minneapolis city park on the northeast side of Lake Harriet. It is next to Lakewood Cemetery, southeast of Bde Maka Ska. It is part of an enormous greenspace circling through Minneapolis called the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway, and is one of the seven districts within, called the Chain of Lakes. The other six districts within Grand Rounds are the Downtown Riverfront, Mississippi River, Minnehaha, Theodore Wirth, Victory Memorial Parkway, and Northeast. Managed by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the parkway system has numerous parks and parkways, lakes (22 within the city limits), streams and creeks, the Mississippi River, and the high Minnehaha Falls. Lyndale Avenue
Lyndale Avenue is a major street in the U.S. state of Minnesota that traverses the cities of Minneapolis, Brooklyn Center, Richfield, and Bloomington. A noncontiguous portion also exists in Faribault, part of Highway 21. There are several commercial districts along the street, including Lyn-Lake in South Minneapolis, Shops at Lyndale in Richfield, and the Oxboro area in Bloomington. Portions of both Interstate 94 and Interstate 35 run on the right-of-way of Lyndale Avenue. Route description In Faribault, Lyndale Avenue is a divided four-lane highway with a 45 mph speed limit. Between Faribault and the Minnesota River, Lyndale Avenue has been replaced by Interstate 35. North of the river, the old Lyndale Avenue resumes in Bloomington. Lyndale Railway
The Lyndale Railway Company later renamed the Minneapolis, Lyndale, & Minnetonka Railway Company operated the Minneapolis, Lyndale and Lake Calhoun railway, also known as the ''Motor Line''. History The Lyndale Railway Company built a railroad, which began at First Avenue and Nicollet Avenue in downtown Minneapolis and led west along present day 31st Street across Hennepin Avenue, turned then southwest and ended at Lake Calhoun. West of Hennepin Avenue the line ran on a curving private right of way. The company also built a pavilion on the banks of the lake near at the terminus of the railroad. The 4.5 miles (7.25 km) long narrow gauge line was inaugurated in 1879. Two 0-4-2 steam engines enclosed in streetcar-like wooden bodies towed short trains along the track. In 1880, the line was extended to Lake Harriet and in July 1882 to Excelsior on Lake Minnetonka. It provided transportation for the tourists that wanted to relax at the shores of the lakes. Lyndale Secondary College is a co-educational government secondary school located in Dandenong North, Victoria, Australia. It has a student enrolment of approximately 1,200, and is known as one of the largest single campus schools in Victoria. The school is divided into two sub-schools—a middle school and a senior school. Its acting principal is Pam Robinson, and there are also two vice principals.
