Lydia Bedford
Lydia Mary Bedford is an English professional football manager who is an assistant coach of FA Women's Super League team Arsenal. Career Bedford began her coaching career in 2008 and earned her UEFA Pro Licence in 2019. On 30 November 2021, Leicester City announced the appointment of Bedford as the first team manager of Leicester City Women on a contract to the end of the 2021–22 season. She officially started her role as first team manager on 6 December. After successfully keeping the team in the top division in 21/22 she signed a new two-year deal with Leicester City Women on 5 July 2022. On 3 November 2022, she was replaced as manager by Willie Kirk. On 24 February 2023, Arsenal confirmed that Bedford had joined the club as an assistant coach. FA Women's Super League
The Women's Super League (WSL), currently known as the Barclays Women's Super League (BWSL) for sponsorship reasons, is the highest league of women's football in England. Established in 2010, it is run by the Football Association and features twelve fully professional teams. The league replaced the FA Women's Premier League National Division as the highest level of women's football in England, with eight teams competing in the inaugural 2011 season. In the WSL's first two seasons, there was no relegation from the division. The WSL discarded the winter football season for six years, between 2011 and 2016, playing through the summer instead (from March until October). UEFA, the governing body for football in Europe, mandates several coaching licences for professional managers, each valid for coaching at a certain level. These include the UEFA Pro Licence, the UEFA A Licence, and the UEFA B Licence. They are issued by each UEFA member state's football federation and are valid for three years. UEFA Pro Licence The UEFA Pro Licence is the highest coaching certification available in Europe and generally follows the completion of the 'B' and 'A' licences. Willie Kirk (born 7 June 1978) is a Scottish football manager and former player who is currently the manager of FA WSL club Leicester City. Playing career Kirk played non-League football for Preston Athletic and agreed to manage the team in the 2014–15 Lowland Football League season. Managerial career Livingston FC Academy Kirk began his managerial career at Livingston FC as an assistant academy coach for the club's under-14 team in October 2006.
