Luxembourg (horse)
Luxembourg (foaled 24 March 2019) is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse. He was one of the best European two-year-olds in 2021 when he was unbeaten in three races, including the Beresford Stakes in Ireland and the Group One Vertem Futurity Trophy in England. As a three-year-old, the horse won the Group One Irish Champion Stakes. Background Luxembourg is a bay colt with a white star and white socks on his hind legs bred in Ireland by Ben Sangster. As a yearling in October 2020 he was consigned to the Tattersalls sale and was bought for 150,000 guineas by Michael Magnier on behalf of his father, John Magnier's Coolmore Stud organisation. He was sent into training with Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle. He is owned by the Coolmore partners Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith in partnership with Georg von Opel. Tattersalls
Tattersalls (formerly Tattersall's) is the main auctioneer of race horses in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Founding It was founded in 1766 by Richard Tattersall (1724–1795), who had been stud groom to the second Duke of Kingston. The first premises occupied were near Hyde Park Corner, in what was then the outskirts of London. Two "Subscription rooms" were reserved for members of the Jockey Club, and they became the rendezvous for sporting and betting men. Among the famous dispersal sales conducted by "Old Tatt" were those of the Duke of Kingston's stud in 1774 and of the stud of the Prince of Wales (afterwards George IV) in 1786. The prince often visited Richard Tattersall, and was joint proprietor with him of the ''Morning Post'' for several years. Arcangues (pronounced ''ar-KONG'') (foaled March 12, 1988–October 2006) was a French Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He won the Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan, Prix du Prince d'Orange, Prix Eugène Adam and John Henry Handicap, but is most famous for winning the 1993 Breeders' Cup Classic as a tremendous longshot, a victory that has been called one of the biggest upsets in horse racing history. The Mooresbridge Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in Ireland open to thoroughbreds aged four years or older. It is run over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at the Curragh in early May. History The event is named after Mooresbridge (or "Moore's Bridge"), a bridge close to the racecourse on the Curragh plain. For a period the race held Listed status. Cox Plate is a Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race for horses aged three years old and over under Weight for age conditions, over a distance of 2040 metres (approximately 1m 2f), that is held by the Moonee Valley Racing Club at Moonee Valley Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia in late October. Sir Dragonet (9 February 2016 – 16 October 2021) was an Irish bred thoroughbred racehorse that won two Group One races in Australia, most notably the 2020 W. S. Cox Plate. Background Sir Dragonet is the son of Camelot who was the European Champion Three-Year-Old Colt in 2012. His mother, Sparrow, was stakes placed when finishing third in the Ballyogan Stakes. She also produced Sir Dragonet's full-brother, Sir Lucan, winner of the Yeats Stakes. Racing career Sir Dragonet won his first two starts in 2019, a maiden race at Tipperary and then the Group III Chester Vase by a margin of eight lengths. Even So (foaled 25 April 2017) is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse. After demonstrating promise as a juvenile in 2019 she showed top-class form in 2020, taking both the Naas Oaks Trial and the Irish Oaks. Background Even So is a bay filly with no white markings bred in Ireland by Lynch Bages Ltd, a breeding company associated with the Coolmore Stud. She entered the ownership of Susan Magnier and Mrs Paul Shanahan and was sent into training with Ger Lyons at Dunsany, County Meath. She was ridden in most of her races by Colin Keane. The 2000 Guineas Stakes is a Group 1 flat race in Great Britain open to three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres) and scheduled to take place each year at the start of May. Ballydoyle
Ballydoyle is a racehorse training facility located in County Tipperary in Ireland. It is a sister thoroughbred facility to Coolmore Stud, and both are owned by John Magnier, son in law to the racehorse trainer Vincent O'Brien. The current trainer at Ballydoyle is Aidan O'Brien, who succeeded Vincent O'Brien (no relation) in 1995. The current stable retained jockey is Ryan Moore. History After the 1951 Cheltenham Festival, Vincent O'Brien purchased and moved into Ballydoyle, then a farm ringed by mountains near the village of Rosegreen, County Tipperary. Vincent O'Brien trained such household names as Nijinsky, Ballymoss, Sir Ivor, Roberto, Alleged, The Minstrel, El Gran Senor and Sadler's Wells at Ballydoyle.
