Luv'
Luv' were a Dutch girl group that scored a string of hit records in Continental Europe (Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway and Finland) as well as Israel, South Africa, Rhodesia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Argentina and Mexico in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The original members were Patty Brard, José Hoebee and Marga Scheide. In 1979, Luv' was 'Holland's best export act' and thus received the 'Buma Export Award, Conamus Export Prize'. The band sold more than seven million records worldwide (singles and albums). Among their greatest hits were: "U.O.Me (Theme from Waldolala), U.O.Me (Welcome to Waldolala)", "You're the Greatest Lover", "Trojan Horse (Luv' song), Trojan Horse", "Casanova (Luv' song), Casanova" and "Ooh, Yes I Do". "You're the Greatest Lover" is a single by the Dutch girl group Luv'. It was first released in July 1978 by Philips/Phonogram Records. It appears on the 1978 debut album With Luv' and on compilations (Luv' Gold, 25 Jaar Na Waldolala, Completely In Luv'...). It is the group's international breakthrough as it was successful in a large part of Continental Europe, Israel and South Africa. Luv' reached its peak with this million-seller. It is often considered as the signature song of the female pop act. A decade later, the German subsidiary of Philips re-issued the track as a CD single. Trojan Horse (Luv' Song)
"Trojan Horse" is the fifth single by the Dutch girl group Luv', released in autumn 1978 by Philips/Phonogram Records. This million-seller appears on some editions of the group's debut album, With Luv' (1978), and was a successful hit record in a large part of continental Europe, Israel, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Argentina and New Zealand. It was a minor hit in Australia and Canada. The single was remixed in 2006, 2015 and 2022. Background This song is the follow-up single to "You're the Greatest Lover" and uses a bagpipe theme. The intro of this track was inspired by the famous "20th-Century Fox Fanfare" by Alfred Newman that accompanies the 20th Century Fox studio logo at the beginning of its productions. Ria Thielsch
Ria Thielsch (born 25 August 1951 in Manokwari, Netherlands New Guinea) is a former model and an ex-member of the Netherlands, Dutch girl group Luv' (who replaced Patty Brard in 1980). She was officially introduced to the public with the release of the album Forever Yours (Luv' Album), Forever Yours and the single My Number One (Luv' song), My Number One (a Top 5 hit in Benelux). March 1981 saw Luv's first break-up. The trio went through lineup changes and made several comebacks. Between March 2016 and December 2018, Ria was active as a Luv' singer again. Margareth "Marga" Scheide (born 15 February 1954 in Amsterdam, Netherlands) is a Dutch singer and former Model (person), model. She was a member of the girl group Luv'. Alongside Patty Brard and José Hoebee, she scored a string of international hit songs such as "You're the Greatest Lover", "Trojan Horse (Luv' song), Trojan Horse", "Casanova (Luv' song), Casanova" and "Ooh, Yes I Do". She was the only Luv' singer to be involved in all the incarnations of the group. The formation went through line-up changes and the original singers reunited several times. Diana Van Berlo
Diana van Berlo (born 6 January 1966 in Helmond, Netherlands) is a Dutch pop female singer. She was a member of the girl group Luv' from 1989 to 1992. She scored with the female formation a Dutch and Flemish Top 30 hit with the single " Welcome to my Party" as well as another minor hit song "He's My Guy". After Luv' had disbanded in 1992, she formed with Carina Lemoine the short-lived girl duo Lady's D.C. In recent years, she has been a backing singer and has sung in dinner shows. "Casanova" is the sixth single by the Dutch girl group Luv', released in the spring of 1979 by Philips Records. This song appears on the formation's second album, Lots Of Luv', and was a Top 10 single in a large part of Continental Europe, maintaining Luv's position as the best Dutch export act of 1979. Background After the success of the hit singles U.O.Me, You're the Greatest Lover and Trojan Horse as well as the album With Luv' in 1978, Philips/Phonogram Records released in April 1979 the new single, "Casanova", as a foretaste of the Lots Of Luv' LP. José Hoebee
Josina van de Wijdeven (born 29 March 1954), known as José Hoebee, is a Dutch pop singer. She was a member of Luv', a famous Dutch girl group in the late 1970s and early 1980s that scored hits in more than 15 countries. In late 1981, she went solo and was successful in her homeland and in the Flanders region of Belgium between 1982 and 1985. She formed a duo known as Bonnie & José with Bonnie St. Claire to record Dutch cover versions of ABBA's songs. Luv' went through line-up changes and reunited several times. "Ooh, Yes I Do" is the ninth single by the Dutch girl group Luv', released in the autumn of 1979 by CNR/Carrere Records. The song appears on the group's 1979 third studio album True Luv'. It was a hit in Benelux, Denmark, France, Austria and Germany. The Spanish version of the record turned gold in Mexico. Background In the summer of 1979, Luv' and their producers and songwriters (Hans van Hemert and Piet Souer) decided to leave Philips/Phonogram Records (which had released the group's records for two years). Carina Lemoine
Carina Lemoine (born 1969, Helmond, Netherlands) is a Dutch pop female singer. She was a member of the girl group Luv' from 1990 to 1992. She scored with the female formation a minor hit song: He's My Guy. After Luv' disbanded in 1992, she formed with Diana van Berlo the short-lived girl duo Lady's D.C. She later went solo. Chimène van Oosterhout (born February 11, 1964 in Willemstad, Curaçao) is a Dutch TV personality, actress and singer. Since 1996, she has been presenting programs on Dutch television (TROS, Veronica TV, SBS6, Net5 and RTL 4). She was the winner of several Dutch celebrity TV competitions (including Peking Express VIPS in 2006 and Top Chef in 2009). Van Oosterhout is also an actress. The Buma Export Award (initially known as Conamus Export Award) was a prize given to the Dutch artists who sold the most records abroad between 1972 and 2011. In 2013, this prize was replaced by the Buma ROCKS!
