Luti-Kriss
Norma Jean (formerly known as Luti-Kriss) is an American metalcore band from Douglasville, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. Since their inception in 1997, numerous lineup changes have left the band with no original members. To date, Norma Jean has released nine studio albums and received a Grammy Award nomination in 2006 for Best Recording Package for their second album '' O' God, the Aftermath''. The band's name is derived from the real name of actress Marilyn Monroe. Josh Scogin
Josh Scogin (born July 17, 1981) is an American musician, and is currently the vocalist and guitarist for '68. He is also known for being the vocalist for The Chariot, and former vocalist of Norma Jean and Luti-Kriss. Scogin has recorded solo material as A Rose, By Any Other Name, releasing an album in 2010. Career He originally gained recognition as the vocalist and founding member of the band Norma Jean, after recording two full-length albums, a split release, and an EP. Scogin left Norma Jean shortly after the release of their first album, ''Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child''. Daniel Travis Davison (born January 28th, 1983) is an American musician, songwriter, artist, and filmmaker. He is also a co-founder and former drummer of the band Norma Jean and a former drummer of Underoath and Every Time I Die. Early life Davison was born on January 28, 1983, in Douglasville, Georgia. Travail (band)
Travail was an American, Christian nu metal/metalcore band based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas. Fronted by Matt Leslie, it had an intense following at Club 412, a local church-sponsored lounge and music venue located in southwest Fort Worth. Stylistic comparisons were often drawn between their sound and that of secular rock acts popular at the time such as Korn and Limp Bizkit. The band was signed on Pluto Records and then were picked up by national label Metro One. Spitfire (US Band)
Spitfire is an American metalcore band from Virginia Beach, Virginia. They first formed in the late 1990s and were previously signed to Goodfellow Records. History Originally, the band featured vocalist and guitarist Matt Beck, drummer Chris Raines, and bassist Jimmy Reeves. With this lineup, they released an EP called ''Straining Towards What's To Come'' on 2Jake Records and ''The Dead Next Door'' on Solid State Records in 1999. For a brief time, Beck left the band and was replaced by Randy Vanderbilt ( Scarlet) on guitar and Jon Spencer (ex-Scarlet) on vocals. With this new vocalist and guitarist, Spitfire released a second EP, called ''The Slideshow Whiplash'', for Goodfellow Records. The band broke up in 2002. ''Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child'' is the debut album by American metalcore band Norma Jean, released on August 13, 2002 by Solid State Records. It is the band's only album to feature bassist Joshua Doolittle and vocalist Josh Scogin, the latter of whom later became the lead vocalist of The Chariot. Background The band previously released a studio album, ''Throwing Myself'', under the name of Luti-Kriss. The band changed their name due to keyboardist Mick Bailey and bassist Josh Swafford leaving and also wanted to go in a different musical direction (the band played a nu metal/ metalcore hybrid). Older recordings of the songs "I Used to Hate Cellphones, But Now I Hate Car Accidents" and "The Shotgun Message" were released on a split album with mewithoutYou. Emery is an American post-hardcore band formed in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in 2001 by Toby Morrell, Devin Shelton, Matt Carter, Josh Head, Joel Green, and Seth Studley. The band relocated to Seattle in order to reach a more music-centered scene. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming.
