Lurøy is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the Helgeland traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Lurøy, located on the island of Lurøya. Other villages in Lurøy include Aldra, Haugland, Konsvikosen, Lovund, Sleneset / Solværøyene, Stokkvågen, and Tonnes. The municipality is located on the coast just south of the Arctic circle, on the western edge of the Saltfjellet mountain range. The ''Lurøygården'' (Lurøy Farm) on the island of Lurøya is a more-than-200-year-old renaissance garden with old plants, a pool, and a nearly high Copper Beech. Lurøya is an island in the municipality of Lurøy in Nordland county, Norway. The island is located just west of the island of Stigen, Nordland, Stigen and just north of the island of Onøya. Lurøy Church
Lurøy Church ( no, Lurøy kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Lurøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the south side of the village of Lurøy on the island of Lurøya. It is the main church for the Lurøy parish which is part of the Nord-Helgeland prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1812. The church seats about 375 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church parish date back to the year 1432, but the church was not new that year. Around the year 1435, the old church was replaced with a new timber-framed cruciform building on the same site. During the 1630s, the church underwent major repairs. Again in 1647, more repairs were carried out. In 1653–1654, the church was repaired again and a new entry porch was built. Aldra
Aldra is an island in the municipality of Lurøy in Nordland county, Norway. It is located just off the mainland coast, north of the village of Haugland and west of Brattland. The island is separated from the mainland by the Aldersundet. The islands of Stigen and Lurøya lie to the west. The village of Aldra lies on the southeastern side of the island. Aldra island is used as a VLF-transmission site. Træna is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the Helgeland traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the island/village of Husøya. Other population centres include Selvær and Sanna. Fishing is the economic mainstay of Træna. Connections to mainland Norway are by means of boat and ferry.
