Lyle Stewart
Lyle Eldon Stewart is a Canadian provincial politician. He is a current Saskatchewan Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. Stewart has been involved in politics since the 1970's. He served as the executive assistant to disgraced Minister Colin Thatcher, before Thatcher resigned and was convicted of first degree murder, for beating and shooting his ex-wife JoAnne Wilson. Later Stewart served as the MLA for Thunder Creek and a former Liberal who had crossed the floor to the Progressive Conservatives prior to that party winning power in the 1982 election. After Thatcher was imprisoned for the 1983 murder of his wife Stewart twice sought the PC nomination, first for the ensuing by-election in 1985 and again for the 1986 general election. On both occasions, he was defeated by Rick Swenson. Thunder Creek (1975–2016 Electoral District)
Thunder Creek was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. Originally created for the 3rd Saskatchewan general election in 1912 and abolished in 1938, this constituency was reconstituted for the 18th Saskatchewan general election in 1975. It was abolished a second time in 2016, with most of the constituency being re-distributed into the new electoral district of Lumsden-Morse. Communities in the district included the towns of Lumsden, Caronport, Regina Beach, Morse, Craik and Herbert; and the villages of Central Butte, Chaplin, Elbow, Mortlach, Riverhurst, Waldeck, Eyebrow and Bethune. The 29th Saskatchewan Legislature was elected at the 2020 Saskatchewan general election. Notably, this is the first Saskatchewan Legislature in which some government members will sit on the Speaker's left. The Saskatchewan Legislature chamber is among the most spacious of all Westminster parliaments relative to its number of members, meaning that the entire government caucus is usually able to sit on the Speaker's right regardless of the size of its majority. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. 2016 Saskatchewan General Election
The 2016 Saskatchewan general election, was held on April 4, 2016, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. The Lieutenant Governor dissolved the Legislature on March 8, 2016, setting the election date for April 4. The election resulted in the Saskatchewan Party winning its third majority government. This is the first time in 90 years that a party other than the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) or its predecessor, the Saskatchewan Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) has won three consecutive majority governments in Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan Party
The Saskatchewan Party is a centre-right political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. Since 2007, it has been the province's governing party; both the party and the province are currently led by Premier Scott Moe. The party was established in 1997 by a coalition of former provincial Progressive Conservative and Liberal party members and supporters who sought to remove the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) from power. The Saskatchewan Party served as the province's Official Opposition until the provincial election on November 7, 2007. Indian Head-Milestone
Indian Head-Milestone is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in southern Saskatchewan, this riding was created through the ''Representation Act, 1994'' (Saskatchewan) by combining the riding of Indian Head-Wolseley with part of the riding of Bengough-Milestone. With the final report of the 2022 boundary commission, the riding will be eliminated at the next general election, with the bulk of its population going to the new riding of White City-Qu'appelle.
