Luke Hogan
Luke Hogan M.B.E., JP, was a Liverpool Council Labour leader who served as Lord Mayor of Liverpool. Biography Hogan entered local politics in 1921 when he stood as a Labour candidate for Brunswick Ward. He was elected to Liverpool City Council on 1 November. He was elected as an Alderman for St. Domingo on 5 October 1927. He became the leader of the Labour group in the council in 1930 and remained in that position until 1947. He was deposed from his leadership because he opposed his party's policy of nationalising the Liverpool Cotton Exchange He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire in 1931 Birthday Honours. He served as Lord Mayor of Liverpool from 1945 to 1946. He was honoured with the Freedom of City of Liverpool on 1 May 1946. Hugh Molyneux, 7th Earl Of Sefton
Hugh William Osbert Molyneux, 7th Earl of Sefton (22 December 1898 – 13 April 1972) was the last Earl of Sefton. His family seats were Croxteth Hall and Abbeystead House in Lancashire; he also held the Wyresdale Forest, an estate in the Forest of Bowland, and Grosvenor Cottage, a property in Culross Street, Mayfair, London. His grandfather, William Philip Molyneux, 2nd Earl of Sefton, founded the Waterloo Cup and the Grand National. Early life Molyneux was the eldest son of Osbert Molyneux, 6th Earl of Sefton (1871–1930). He had a younger brother, Cecil, and a sister Evelyn. He was educated at West Downs School, Harrow School and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. During the First World War, he served as an officer in the Royal Horse Guards in France and Belgium. Order Of The British Empire (MBE)
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order. Lord Mayor Of Liverpool
The office of Lord Mayor of Liverpool has existed in one form or another since the foundation of Liverpool as a borough by the Royal Charter of King John in 1207, simply being referred to as the Mayor of Liverpool. The position is now a mostly ceremonial role. The current Lord Mayor of Liverpool is Mary Rasmussen, who has held the post since May 2021. Liverpool City Council elections will be held every four years from 2023. Between 1973 and 2021 elections were generally held three years out of every four, with a third of the council being elected each time.
