Lujon
"Lujon" (also known as "Slow Hot Wind") is a musical piece by Henry Mancini. Background Its name comes from the lujon percussion instrument heard on the recording. Henry Mancini recording It appeared on his 1961 album ''Mr. Lucky Goes Latin'', but was an original piece of music that had nothing to do with the '' Mr. Lucky'' television program. It was included in the soundtracks for the films ''The Big Lebowski'', ''Sexy Beast'', '' W.E.'', and '' Two Lovers''. Mancini would later record a jazz/swing version of "Slow Hot Wind" and include it on his 1975 album ''Symphonic Soul''. The song would eventually reach the #38 spot on the Adult Contemporary list in 1976. Lujon (musical Instrument)
The lujon ( ) is a bass metallophone consisting of individually-pitched metal plates that are attached to the resonance chambers of a partitioned wooden box. History The lujon was invented by William Loughborough. At his Sausalito, California studio, Loughborough created a variety of new percussion instruments, including the boobam and lujon, after working with Harry Partch in the mid-1950s. The lujon is played with soft mallets and produces a sound that is dominated by its fundamental frequency. The instrument is also known as a loo-jon or metal log drum. ''No More Sweet Music'' is a double album by the Belgian band Hooverphonic. It is the group's fifth studio album, and was released in 2005. The first disc is titled ''More Sweet Music'' and contains 11 songs performed in the familiar Hooverphonic style, whilst the second disc contains the very same 11 songs in their remixed versions by Hooverphonic's main composer and programmer Alex Callier, and is titled ''NO More Sweet Music'', a title indicative of the nature of the remixed versions, which also underlines the notable difference in style between the two discs. ''Chillout Sessions'' is a series of compilations released by Ministry of Sound that focus on songs from the chillout genre. Songs on Chillout Sessions compilations vary in style from lounge to electronica and are released by many different artists. The Chillout Out genre of compilations started in the UK and since 2003 Ministry of Sound has released them under different tropes such as "Chilled", "After Hours", "The Morning After..." which has shown MOS to have seemingly ended its branding of the genre as Chillout Sessions. A similar series started in Australia, where the series changed its name from The Chillout Session to The Chillout Sessions and then simply to Chillout Sessions and continued until 2016 with XIX until the record label rebranded to TMRW following the acquisition of MoS by Sony in the UK. Hooverphonic
Hooverphonic is a Belgian band that formed in October 1995. Though originally categorized as a trip hop group, they quickly expanded their sound to the point where they could no longer be described as a singular genre, but rather encompass alternative, electronica, electropop, rock, and a mixture of others. The band originally called themselves Hoover, but later changed their name to Hooverphonic after discovering other groups were already using the Hoover name and to avoid any legal issues with the vacuum cleaner company. Laurent Daumail (born 1973), better known by his stage name DJ Cam, is a French record producer. Daumail's music is largely rooted in hip hop, combined with elements of jazz, dub, and ambient and composed using samples. Easy listening (including mood music) is a popular music genre and radio format that was most popular during the 1950s to 1970s. It is related to middle-of-the-road (MOR) music and encompasses instrumental recordings of standards, hit songs, non-rock vocals and instrumental covers of selected popular rock songs.
