Luiz Couto
Luiz Albuquerque Couto (born 13 February 1945) is a Brazilian politician as well as a university professor and Catholic priest. He has spent his political career representing his home state of Paraíba, having served as state representative from 2003 to 2019. Personal life Couto was born to Antônio Joaquim de Couto and Elisa Leopoldina de Albuquerque. His parents were landless farmers and Couto grew up in a poor environment. He is an alumnus of the Federal University of Paraíba. Couto attended seminary from 1974 to 1978, and on 19 December 1978 Couto was ordained to the Catholic priesthood. Couto has also worked as a professor, teaching theology, anthropology, and philosophy at various universities in Paraíba. On 22 December 2018 Couto celebrated mass commemorating 40 years of him being a priest. Couto is a proponent of Liberation theology. Chamber Of Deputies (Brazil)
The Chamber of Deputies ( pt, Câmara dos Deputados) is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current President of the Chamber is the Deputy Arthur Lira ( PP- AL), who was elected on 1 February 2021. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population. Liberation theology is a Christian theological approach emphasizing the liberation of the oppressed. In certain contexts, it engages socio-economic analyses, with "social concern for the poor and political liberation for oppressed peoples". In other contexts, it addresses other forms of inequality, such as race or caste. In the canon law of the Catholic Church, the loss of clerical state (commonly referred to as laicization, dismissal, defrocking, and degradation) is the removal of a bishop, priest, or deacon from the status of being a member of the clergy. The term '' defrocking'' originated in the ritual removal of vestments as a penalty against clergy that was eventually codified within the '' Roman Pontifical''. Contemporary Catholic canon law does not contain such a ritual, leading some to consider it an inaccurate description of laicization.
