Luiz A. Rocha
Luiz Alves Rocha is the Curator and Follett Chair of Ichthyology at the California Academy of Sciences. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of California Santa Cruz and San Francisco State University. Education Rocha has obtained a PhD in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences from the University of Florida, and a BS in Biology and Masters in Zoology from the Federal University of Paraiba in Brazil. He also conducted post-doctoral work at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and the University of Hawaii. Career Rocha has authored one book and more than 150 scientific articles. He is best known for his work in speciation in coral reef fishes using advanced genomic methodologies to understand fish evolution, and more recently has been actively exploring the diversity of deep ( mesophotic) coral reefs throughout the tropics. Margaret Stewart (herpetologist)
Margaret "Meg" McBride Stewart (6 Feb. 1927 – 2 Aug. 2006) was an American herpetologist, known for her research on the amphibians of Malawi, the Caribbean, and the United States. She was a professor at the State University of New York at Albany. She served as president of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists and the Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles. John Ernest "Jack" Randall (May 22, 1924 – April 26, 2020) was an American ichthyologist and a leading authority on coral reef fishes. Randall described over 800 species and authored 11 books and over 900 scientific papers and popular articles. He spent most of his career working in Hawaii. He died in April 2020 at the age of 95.
