Luis Alberto Del Paraná
Luis Alberto del Paraná (21 June 1926 – 15 September 1974) was a Paraguayan singer and guitarist. During the fifties, sixties and early seventies, he traveled extensively around the globe with his group Los Paraguayos, popularizing Paraguayan music. He is the best-selling Paraguayan musician ever. Family and early life He was born on 21 June 1926 at 14:30 in Altos, Paraguay. His birth was reported in the magistrates court on 14 August 1926 by his mother, Jacinta Mesa (not Meza). His name was Luis Osmer Meza. Luis was the fourth son of eight children, of whom one was a girl, Obdulia (Chiquita), a retired singer. Doña Jacinta, Paraná's mother died on 15 August 1965, while Luis was in Stockholm touring in Europe; Luis's father, who was a rural teacher, died in Piripucú, Concepción in 1947. Altos, Paraguay
Altos is a city and district of the Cordillera Department, Paraguay. Etymology It is also called “Altos de Ybypytaré”, which in Guaraní means “path of the wind”, previously called “San Lorenzo de la Cordillera de los Altos”, one of the oldest cities of Paraguay. ''Born on the Fourth of July'' is a 1989 American biographical anti-war drama film based on the 1976 autobiography by Ron Kovic. Directed by Oliver Stone, and written by Stone and Kovic, it stars Tom Cruise, Kyra Sedgwick, Raymond J. Barry, Jerry Levine, Frank Whaley, and Willem Dafoe. Recoleta Cemetery, Asuncion
La Recoleta Cemetery ( es, Cementerio de la Recoleta) is a national cemetery located on the Avenue Mariscal López, Recoleta, Asunción, Paraguay. It contains the graves of important figures in the country's history, including presidents of Paraguay. The Cemetery is open to the public and has an area of about 14 hectares. History The cemetery is on the site of a Franciscan Recollets convent, nationalised by José Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia who had appointed himself head of the Paraguayan Church. Its origin dates from 20 October 1842 the date of its establishment by the government of Carlos Antonio López and consul Mariano Roque Alonso.
