Luge At The 2014 Winter Olympics – Team Relay
The team relay luge at the 2014 Winter Olympics was held on 13 February 2014 at the Sliding Center Sanki in Rzhanaya Polyana, Russia. This was the inaugural event of the team relay at the Olympics. The competition was won by Germany. Russia and Latvia won silver and bronze, respectively. Sliding Center Sanki
The Sliding Center Sanki (Санки) (a.k.a. the Sanki Sliding Center) is a bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track located in Rzhanaya Polyana, Russia, 60 km (37 mi) northeast of Sochi. Located in the Western Caucasus. The venue hosted the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events for the 2014 Winter Olympics. History In 2006, it was announced that Russia would construct two new bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton tracks. Jayson Terdiman (born December 21, 1988) is an American luger. Terdiman competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia where he finished 11th in the doubles luge competition with Christian Niccum. Christian Niccum
Christian Elza Niccum (born January 27, 1978) is a retired American luger who has competed since 1996 on the World Cup tour. He was the alternate in 1998, coached for Canada in 2002, finished 23rd in the men's singles event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Four years later in Vancouver, he finished sixth in the men's doubles event. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia he finished 6th as part of the US team in the team relay and finished 11th in the doubles with Jayson Terdiman. Niccum's best finish at the FIL World Luge Championships was ninth in the men's singles event at Park City, Utah in 2005. In doubles his best finish was a 6th place in 2008 in Oberhof, Germany. Chris Mazdzer
Christopher Mazdzer (; born June 26, 1988) is an American luger. He competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, finishing 13th on both occasions. At the 2018 Winter Olympics Mazdzer won the silver medal in the Men's Single Luge, becoming the first U.S. men's singles luge medalist and the first and only non-European to win a medal in that event. Erin Hamlin
Erin Mullady Hamlin (born 19 November 1986) is a four-time Olympian and the first female American luger to medal at any Winter Olympics, as well as the first American of either gender to medal in luge singles competition and the first non-European woman to take an Olympic medal in luge. Armin Zöggeler OMRI (born 4 January 1974) is a retired Italian luger and double Olympic champion.
