Bernhard Glass
Bernhard Glass (born 6 November 1957) is an East German former luger who competed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He won the gold medal in the men's singles event at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. Glass also won a bronze medal in the men's singles event at the 1979 FIL European Luge Championships in Oberhof, East Germany. After his retirement from luge as an athlete, Glass became a luge coach. Among his famous pupils in luge were Silke Kraushaar, Tatjana Hüfner, and David Möller while others who started in luge, but later went to bobsleigh included André Lange and Sandra Kiriasis Sandra Kiriasis ( Prokoff; born 4 January 1975 in Dresden) is a German former bobsledder who has competed from 2000 to 2014. Hans Rinn (born 19 March 1953 in Langewiesen, Bezirk Suhl) is an East German former luger who competed from the early 1970s to the early 1980s. He won three medals at the Winter Olympics, including two gold (doubles: 1976, 1980) and one bronze (singles: 1976). Rinn also won eight medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with four golds (singles: 1973, 1977, doubles: 1975, 1977), three silvers (singles: 1974, doubles: 1973, 1979), and one bronze (1978). At the FIL European Luge Championships, Rinn won 13 medals. Dainis Bremze or Dainis Bremse (born 22 July 1954 in Riga) was a Latvian Soviet luger who competed during the late 1970s. He won the gold medal at the men's doubles event at the 1978 FIL World Luge Championships in Imst, Austria.
