Ludvig Holstein-Holsteinborg
Ludvig Henrik Carl Herman Holstein, Count, Greve til Holsteinborg (18 July 1815 – 28 April 1892), was a Danish politician, landowner and noble. He was Council President of Denmark from 28 May 1870 to 14 July 1874 (4 years, 1 month, 16 days). Early life Holstein was born at Holsteinborg Castle, Holsteinborg Manor in Slagelse Municipality, Slagelse, Denmark. He was a son of Friedrich Adolph Holstein, Count of Holsteinborg, and Wilhelmine Juliane Reventlow. He was a descendant of Ulrik Adolf Holstein (1664–1737) and was the 7th Count of Holsteinborg. In 1836 he enrolled at the University of Berlin but graduated from the University of Copenhagen. Carl Christian Hall (25 February 1812 – 14 August 1888) was a Denmark, Danish politician, statesman. Hall served as the Council President of Denmark (Prime Minister of Denmark, Prime Minister), first from 1857 to 1859 and again from 1860 to 1863. Early life Hall was the son of the highly respected artisan and train-band colonel Mads Hall. He was born at Christianshavn. After a distinguished career at school and college, he adopted the law as his profession, and in 1837 married the highly gifted but eccentric Augusta Marie, daughter of the philologist Peter Oluf Brøndsted. Oscar O'Neill Oxholm (28 April 1809 – 15 October 1871) was a Danish military officer, chamberlain and landowner. He owned Rosenfeldt Manor at Vordingborg from 1841. Early life Oxholm was the son of the former Ann O'Neill and Peter Lotharius Oxholm, who served as governor-general of the Danish West Indies from 1815 to 1816 who participated in the Battle of Køge in 1807. His mother was the daughter of a plantation owner on St. Croix. His father owned a mansion of the corner of Sankt Annæ Gade and Amaliegade (which was acquired by King Frederick VI in 1826 who put it at the disposal of Prince William of Hesse-Kassel, who lived there until his death in 1867), as well as the St. George Hill, Sally's Fancy, and Hope plantations in Saint Croix. The Order of the Elephant ( da, Elefantordenen) is a Danish order of chivalry and is Denmark's highest-ranked honour. It has origins in the 15th century, but has officially existed since 1693, and since the establishment of constitutional monarchy in 1849, is now almost exclusively used to honour royalty and heads of state.
