Ludlow (League Alliance)
Ludlow () is a market town in Shropshire, England. The town is significant in the history of the Welsh Marches and in relation to Wales. It is located south of Shrewsbury and north of Hereford, on the A49 road which bypasses the town. The town is near the confluence of the rivers Corve and Teme. The oldest part is the medieval walled town, founded in the late 11th century after the Norman Conquest, Norman conquest of England. It is centred on a small hill which lies on the eastern bank of a bend of the River Teme. Situated on this hill are Ludlow Castle and the parish church, St Laurence's Church, Ludlow, St Laurence's, the largest in the county. From there the streets slope downward to the rivers Corve and Teme, to the north and south respectively. The town is in a sheltered spot beneath Mortimer Forest and the Clee Hills, which are clearly visible from the town. Shropshire (district)
Shropshire is a district with the status of a unitary authority in the ceremonial county of Shropshire, in the West Midlands region of England. It is named after the historic county of Shropshire. It covers the former districts of Bridgnorth, North Shropshire, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Atcham and South Shropshire. These were merged into the modern-day unitary authority of Shropshire. The large town of Telford was not affected by this as it has been a unitary authority since 1996 under Telford and Wrekin borough. It contains 188 civil parishes. History The district was created on the 1 April 2009, following the merger of the former districts, and upon the formation of Shropshire Council, which replaced the district councils and also Shropshire County Council.
